2nd hand BMW E36, worth to buy?

Yes.. Beemer parts are expensive... event the smallest parts as well are expensive... but i do not doubt the quality n reliability of the car... Even the parts are expensive they last longer than the Malaysian n Japanese Cars...

the problem when ppl buy used BMW... it should have come time to replace this n that.. thats y u feel it is expensive... but if you buy new ones straight from factory will last you almost 8-10years easily without major repairs.. If you want a beemer.. I recomend getting those with a Vanos..

I not familiar with BMW, but what is Vanos?

Anyway.... Auto better or Manual? I heard not sure is rumors news or real... Auto alot problem... Isn't it?

VANOS in essense is BMW's variable valve timing system, like Honda's VTEC, Toyota's VVTI, Mitsu's MIVEC, etc... but how it works is rather different, but i'm not gonna go into detail, you can google it...

About maintenance cost, i can tell u that Perdana V6 parts are more expensive then e36 parts... and parts from local assembled models and imported ones are more/less the same...

On manual vs auto debate.... well in most cases, for any car for that matter of fact, autos are always a tiny bit more problematic simply because they are a bit more complexed to build in the first place compared to a manual.
But the 6 potter autos (325i, 328i) do more often then not requires an overhaul at (+-) 150K-200K kms. So, if ur getting a car thats around that milage, ask the owner if its been done or not. It will cost around RM4K to do...

thanks for information. I saw alot BMW for sales, majority is 1.8. Isn't under power?

Underpower or not is subjective. But overall, i would say, power is sufficient 80% of the time, provided u don't drive like a mad man 90% of the time. Its just certain situations that get u wishing u had more power. And its still pretty comfy cruising around at 140-150kmph on the hiway no prob. And will give u 180-190kmph, even 200kmph if u had the road...
It does suffer a tiny bit on fuel con, as it has to carry a heavy body around, but i wouldn't say its anything substantial...
