How to install a volt meter

Did you all calibrate the voltmeter before fixing??

I think this one is the only volt meter thread?
I wanna ask, I've got a digital voltmeter with 3 wires, blue, red, black.
I know analog need one for the led, one for the live wire then one for the ground.
What about digital ones?

normally voltmeter need 2 wires only for car.
red - power in (max 36v)
black - negative/ground 0volt
blue - signal in (0~100volts)

if use at voltage <36 v, just short red and blue

LOL I thought buying 3 wires are better hahahaha.
