DEAR MEMBER...

WHAT THE DISADVANTAGE OF FAT RIMS or Oversize rims that at the moment IN-TREND!!!

1. HOW THE FUEL COMSUMPTION???

2. WILL THE SIDE CAR BODY PAINT BE SCATCH BY STONE BECAUSE OF FRONT WHEEL ALLIGMENT NOT ALLIGN TO THE MUDGUARD!!! BECAUSE NOTICE A LOT OF FAT RIMS CAR, AT THE SIDE VERY DIRTY AND A LOT SCATCHES

3. TYRE DURABILITY, WILL THE TYRE SIDE WEAR-OUT VERY FAST BECAUSE ADJUSTMENT OF WHEEL CHAMBER???

4. HIGH SPEED CORNER, WILL THERE BE ALOT OF UNDER/ OVER STEER!!!

5. STANDARD SETUP ABSORBER DURABILITY, CAN IT TAKE THE PREASURE???

DO FEEL FREE TO GIVE ADVISE BY SIFU TYRE>>>

Not a sifu but will try to answer:
1. Would be worse if it's heavier, and due to more drag and resistance from the wider tire (assuming using the proper tire width following the rim width).
2. Should have more tar stuck on the lower body and probably also more paint chips from stones of the rims already extended out of the fenders.
3. Should wear out the inner side faster if too much camber applied.
4. Depends on the car and how the setup is.
5. Durability will be shorter if it's heavier due to more unsprung weight.

Yes, I think the main problem or disadvantage is the damage or chips paint from stone and dirt to the front lower body with direct hit when high speed.
I've notice every single car with fat rims have this problem.
Could image those expensive paints that on those cars like Subaru, EVO's, CAMRY, TEANA and Lexus IS.
But notice those cars like the Nissan GTR, BMW M3 that have wide body are spare the damage, maybe is their wide wheel arch and rear wheel drive design.
Secondly i believe when taking high speed corner also have negative impact to the control of the car hence casuing alot of under or over steering...

I've seen quite a lot of oversize rims on the road, very small gap between the tyre and car bodies which is very bad. And not to forget the car will heavier and caused you've to press the pedal harder which means higher fuel consumption. Not so sure about cornering though

Yup, with wider or rims offset that comes out of the wheel well the tyres will fling, dirt, mud, stones etc. up and since the tyres are out of the wheel well it will hit the side panel.

With wider stance actually it may be more stable, and with more negative camber even more stable, but like mentioned by bro. 6uest, depends on the car suspension setup too.....

Turning radius a.k.a. turning circle increased = understeer?

Understeer is when front goes straight in a corner, not going the way where the steering is pointing. Oversteer is when tail hangs out.....

drive shaf bush + lower arm bush cepat rosak aswell.. + bearing

Especially the bearing....

u all are missing out on one thing - Aqua planning.

the wider your rims - the wider the tires. The wider the tires, the more surface area it runs on.. meaning bigger contact patch. The bigger it is, yes - the more grip. but at the same time, during rainy days as your tires goes through puddle of water... u will aqua plan

The phenomena started due to recent heavy rain makes ppl wanna float their car during heavy rain or flooding event :hmmmm:

Just don't over do it with the size of the tyres or you will just look stupid...and doesn't serve any good purpose unless you clearly
know what you're doing by increasing the size of the tyres...

Some just for show or want to look nicer with less gap between fenders and etcs...

Not really a plug and play thing when comes to tyres, need to really know the purpose and consequences of you doing it.

I stumbled across this phenomena recently....don't know whats their point of having oversized rims till poked out of the fender arch....wider the track the stable it is I believe to them...many of them comes with 'Marshall' and those round2 sticker too LOL :adore:

Bro. bryan, I did not touch on aquaplaning because topic ask for fat rims disadvantage and many have ask in other topic for 15 x 8J or 9J but still on 195/55R15.... :hmmmm:
By right, the wider the rims the wider the tyres used.....

True story.

Even 4WD cannot save a car from aquaplanning.

Wider wheel -> hit inner mudguard or absorber when turning -> need bigger circle to turn -> increased turning radius = similar effect to understeer

Depends on the offset, if offset is further out won't hit inner side and again unless very wide tyres....

hehe... i blame hipari, hellaflush, stance nation , i heart stance, stance works.....

if japan oldskool + olskool rim (SSR) = OK
if eure oldskool + olskool rim (BBS) = OK

if wira/satria + taiwan rim (offset +30) = funny....

*now alot of taiwan rim with low offset in mudah, and cheap also...
*wider rim (9J) does NOT means wider tyre, maybe just normal tyre (195 or 205) stretch till max....

A Post Every 5 Mins

Hello all,
Decided to get my old car a tint coz i've been travelling a lot lately. I have a budget of about RM500 to RM600 and i'm looking around for a trusted shop which does a good tint job. Please no Brother's or cosplus coz i was there to fix my platenumber and i'm shocked at their level of workmanship of tint. Hopefully you guys can suggest a place around subang/pj area. How's ecotint or tint shoppe workmanship and price? btw, where exactly are both these places?
