Aisay man.
I'm not much of a believer for machine ATF flushing. I'm more of a old school manual way of flushing type of guy. Once you drain the ATF via the drain bolt, open up those freaking thousands of bolts, remove the pan and ATF filter, the amount of ATF left in the torque converter is barely 1L. If manual flushed, circulating with new oil 3-4 rounds is plenty enough to clean off the old oil mah.
The other way of flushing is using the transmission cooler hose output and input method. It's riskier and it's a 2-man job but it's way faster.
Personally I only change ATF every 20k km (meaning every 2 services). Transmission fluid is a closed system and isn't as prone to oxidation and burning compared to engine oil so the wear on the oil is less.
(Note - this is for torque converter trannies. I have no idea whether the same applies for CVT or dual-clutch and all those new trannies).
I replace the filter and the oil every 20k km. For CVT it has this extra belt that needs to be changed every x amount of km too.
Best workshop (and probably cheapest) is DIY since this isn't a hard DIY at all. Just perhaps messy.

guys gimme sum *review*
which ATF is the best in town? especially for dexronIII.. afraid to use type 4
Toyota Type IV is not compatible with Dexron III and vice versa. They both have different boiling points, slightly different viscosities and are made for different types of gearboxes that have their own propietary designs.
If you ask me which is the best ATF? Motul, Redline are good. But other than that the rest are pretty much the same for me. Pennzoil Dexron III, Daihatsu, etc.
I personally don't like multigrade ATF. But the good thing about multigrade is it's fully synthetic. That's always a good thing.
Bro. Izso,
ATF got Multi grade? as in various viscosity?
Taiko, of course got. Motul has, Pennzoil MultiATF, etc. They are compatible with several different types, but I'm not sure how they are able to achieve that multigrade certification

Penzzoil one is Multi Vehicle ATF, so I take it as many vehicles can use and not the viscosity....
Anyway, have not seen any ATF mentioning the viscosity....:hmmmm:

Er.. well I guess depends on how you look at it. Multi vehicle ATF like you said means different cars with different viscosity requirements and different heat resistance, additives, etc. In a way it's basically calling it multigrade no?
Aiya, terminology salah la![]()

ayoyo.. my new kembara dvvt previous owner used toyota t-IV.. (before he used dexron3 coz service @perodua center) . dats y when its change to higher gears.. owez jerk..jerk..jerking.. not smooth like it should.![]()

I also got to learn more on atf as all along my rides have been manuals. Now, wife got auto SUV, but still under warranty....![]()
I hate to say this but maybe what you can do is flush the ATF with Dexron III and then used additives like Lubeguard Platinum. As much as I dislike additives, I hate to admit this Platinum has shown promising results. I have no idea how it works though but it's managed to save a Sentra gearbox in the past which was really weird. The Sentra gearbox had problems engaging 1st gear and would take up to a minute for the GB to engage 1st gear to move from standstill. After a flush and top up fresh oil + this additive and about 50km later, the gb started working normally again. I'm not sure what the owner did after that, whether he continued using the additive or just changed the oil normally.
Which SUV is this? Word of advice, not all autos do well with auto GB coolers, so don't install one until you really max out this car and see what happens. I'm going to dismantle my Myvi GB cooler because it seems to make the gear changes too rough.
I have changed the ATF twice since I got my car. I think I would not just flush the third time but to service the gearbox internal, as sometimes it jerks for no reason.
Two of my friends also use the lubeguard with great results....
China make. Cheapest SUV around. No mods to anything except fitting DRL lately....
Maybe atf running too cool??
Chery? Is that a SUV or MPV?
