Hi, im changing my rims soon and considering to get a 8jj rota grid rims with an offset of 20.
Are there anything i should know about before changing to a low offset rims?
Negative effects of it? Thank you!

Just make sure it won't rub the fenders if it goes out of the fender. I personally don't like rims that go out of fenders but some people like it, so up to you.

Oh so using this rims doesnt need special tires right? I thought if its 8jj it'll wider than normal tires. And may i ask why you dont like it?

ull need lotsa camber if ur car is lowered... special tires?? 195/50/15 is fine...itll stretch the tire to complete the hellaflushthetoilet look

and due to the stretch n camber... itll help with ur fender clearance

Sorry, i dont know much about camber. How much would that be?
Yeah ill be using 195/50 for tires. Any negative effects of these rims?

195/50 would stretch the tire, on standard 18''8jj atleast 225. Too much stretch tire not suitable for speed driving n easily damage rim on hitting curb.

Well if you want to follow the proper way then 8` width should at least use 225 wide tire.
As to why I don't like it, simply cause IMHO it doesn't offer anything positive, not functionally, not even aesthetically. To me it actually makes the car worse. If the rims can stay properly inside the fender with the same width, then its good.

Is the price for 225/45/15 will be the same as 195/50?
Yeah im not actually looking for that hellaflush look, i just love rota rims. Im still considering whether to use them or not.
Will be trying them out tomorrow.

Should be more expensive.

Don't go for rim only, just because you like the offset. Cant be fitting offset 20 rim to a stock offset 60 car .
It will look nice but you will regret. Too many thing to do. Wide body la or camber la. Suspension some more.

Just fit a set. Need to widened my fender. Time consuming. Money consuming. And the tires, so expenshit !
It is totally depend on you.
To me, now, no matter what off set, it is the design and weight play the role.
Think carefully.

Yeah, thats why im still thinking whether to use the rims or not. I know offset play an important role too.
My friend changed to a low offset rims without knowing the consequences. Now he needs to pay alot for other extras.

Since the canmber increase n so the scrub radius, expect high tyre wear

What is your ride? If FWD, normal offset is around +50 to +55, offset +20 will be too much.
Like Myvi, +40 just nice, even +35 might scrub the fender already.

Yup, for 8J, 195 is not wide enough. The sidewall will be stretched.....
On my 7J I am using 215 which is just nice....

225/45R15 will be very much more expensive.....

So i guess i can forget about using rota wheels. The offset is just too low.
What if i use 7j with 195 tires?

Im not really sure about the offset, i think its around 35-38.
Btw, reducing rims size and tires from 17" to 15" will improve alot?

Depends on what you mean improve? Usually from 17" to 15" your tyres will be narrower and with higher sidewall (higher aspect ratio) Comfort will improve, but handling and traction will be compromised.....

Improve in terms of pickup, fuel consumption and brake efficiency? My car's stock rims are 15" so im reverting back to the original size.

It depends on the upgrade done previously. If oversize tyres were used, then revert back to 15" will have better acceleration, FC and braking. If previous upgrade done properly then less improvement as the changes not that much....
