Since dyno tuning damn expensive and everytime when you upgrade your car (bigger turbo, bigger injectors etc etc) you have to re-dyno, is there anyone who's interested in getting a wide band tuner? Would like to find out the possibility of sharing a unit (I think it costs RM2000+ for a set).

List of interested purchasers :-

1. Danny
2. fazidk
3. netracer

almost all performance workshops has the wide band sensor , they`ll can tune for you . its cheaper that way .

I'm also interested in tuning my own engine in future. What I need is :

1. A wideband O2 tool, u can get a basic unit for USD279 (Zeitronix), otherwise if u already have a programmable ECU u might just need to buy a Bosch LSU4.2 sensor for USD50 and plug it into ur ECU.
2. A knock sensor, MSD sells one for USD200.

Sure can just send to workshop for tuning (let the tuners scratch their head for you B)) but in the end u learn very little. Well it depends on individual.

Danny, wanna share with me

I think can do without the knock sensor, your car should have one already. Have to wait for my car to get repaired first la probably in 2 mths time I can let u know whether I still want it.

With the wideband o2 sensor it's very easy to tune simple piggybacks like safc rather than paying RM150 each time for dynotune. Coz for most car modders we upgrade parts every month or so, and everytime you do that it's another RM150. Total cost after a few months can easily buy 1 sensor yrself.

i dunno bout u all, but when i want to tune anyting, i just call my mech, and go to his house and ask him to do tuning. literally under a banana tree. of course using wideband.

why pay so much? safc tune with wideband (no rolling road, on the road) he charge rm50 only. me using chip, retune also around that price...

why pay RM1000++ for items that we use only once in a blue moon?

p/s dont flame me for my comments, me small potato only, only expressing my opinion.... :(

Like i said earlier, very vew people are willing to spend RM1000+ to buy wideband O2 when they're not using it often and very very few people want to venture into engine tuning. I guess some of us want to mess with engine tuning ourselves, in the end they feel much more satisfied than people that rely on workshops. In overseas wideband O2 is almost as necessity as other fancy electronic meters, perhaps it's cheaper than here.

Well, some people can fork out RM2000+ for a set of Defi meters, for me it's waste of money, other people may have different opinions.

Sharing is a good idea indeed

some people are DIY kind of people. they rather do it themselves than sending their cars to other people for tuning. i have one unit myself and i'm happy because it works great.

yo danny,i suggest u enquire/ask any1 who wants or interested in getting d item 2 list down their names in here...and then meet up,collect d $$$ n all go 2gether 2 buy..:) im very sure dat if we cld get a number of ppl CONFIRM 2 buy then we will get it cheaper...bulk purchasing maaa....if u plan 2 do dat then count me in...:)

just my 2cents la..let me know...

bulk purchasing? i think he is looking to share one unit oni...

hehe bro zaki, u different la. u otai...

spend 2k pandai pandai go tune the car.. end up fuckini it up.. then pay another 2k for repairs... = Priceless

strictly for semi-experienced self-tuners only la... if completely newbie not recommended. With wine-band sensor I think it is limited to air/fuel ratio tuning. As long as you get 14.4 idle and 11+ during boost shouldn't go wrong for turbo cars. Timing advance etc u'd need to have a knock sensor as well and without a dyno machine u won't know if too much timing advance would result in a loss of power or a gain.

I was once enthusiatic about tuning cars by ownself. (read online articles, attended courses, doing my own car repairs and modifications, bla bla bla)

But doing it and getting good result is entirely different story.

Its kinda hard to explain but tuning an engine is alot more compliacted than it looks (its not merely looking at A/F ratio figures for sure)

In Cantonese there is a saying "YAU TI CHIN HAIH YEW PEI YAN CHAN" (in english, Some money is meant to be profitted by other people inevitably)

Guys, just need to ask a few questions regarding wideband.

Just bought a Tomei A/F meter with the amp but no sensor. Suspected it's a wideband. I hooked it up to my autogauge A/f meter and it's running.

It shows 14 on the meter and when revving it goes to about 9. The needle is very stable. Not like my LED autogauge meter that was dancing around.

Is it possible to use a wideband meter + amp with a standard narrowband O2 sensors?

The sensors should have around 5 wires right?

My Tomei A/f meter set comes complete with the wiring and a box labeled A/f amplifier. The connector for the sensor has only 1 wire. Is that possible for a wideband?

hahaha.... my easiest way... hook up a wideband....and just key in the target af wanted in the map.... btw tis only applies to ultimate.... took me less than an hour to tune air fuel..... ignition wise... im still very conservative and didnt really mess too much about it... belum cukup "kung-fu" lagi
