I will make this very simple!

If your 20Vs are running in these bodies before transplanting:
- Corolla SE.G EE100 1.3 Carbs
- Corolla SE EE90 1.3 Carbs
- Corolla LE AE82 Carbs
* Or any other body running carbs and below 1.6

PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE FUEL LINE/PIPE RUNNING FROM THE TANK TO THE FUEL RAIL IS NO LESS THAN 8mm in size!

I have checked a few 20Vs which are previously running 1.3 carbs and most of them are still using the 7mm fuel pipe which will cause the Fuel System to run HIGH PRESSURE PERMANENTLY! (10PSI Higher Than Normal). 20Vs with this setup will not be able to run the optimal 30-32PSI Idle Pressure, instead it will run within the region of 38-45PSI which is waaay too high for 20V NA. This will surely cost more fuel being burnt needlessly.

I am not telling this for my business benefit whatsoever, just helping fellow 20V owners.

* And yes, if your car have smaller diameter fuel pipe it will induce higher pressure but the actual volume might not be suitable at all.

So please check with your respective mechanics that done transplant for your 20Vs is they have upgraded the Fuel Pipe too.

Good stuff EFN, thanks for sharing....

wah.. we are in the same sea but different boat i guess, i gave up listening to grind music because i always mix it with my maths, hehehe, i'm looking for another alternative n i found music comes from sonic youth, tad inhaler, etc... just suit my angry young soul, rhcp is my favourite nowadays n sometime Peter Pan, HAHAHA, also don't forget 'bout our local infectious maggots (abg fathul n friends), which school did u end ur secondary studies?

my ori chasis is ee100 carb. now on 20v. don't know got fuel pressure problem not. but the thing is there is always this petrol fume smell around my car. it is especially bad if i do not use my car for days. can even smeel the fuel in the car. intoxicated by petrol pulak.

after my mech check, the fuel line seems to be the problem. it was joined using some fuel pipe which is fine. but the thing is the ori fuel line is small, join to this bigger fuel line. the they suspect the pipe is too big and some fume manage to escape. they tighten it and it was solved for a while.

now the problem is back. i am fed up. can i change the whole fuel line? what type should i go for. i heard that copper is too soft. i am worry cause my car always hit the hump. what else is suitable. any machine shop can fabricate? or can i order from toyota?most importantly, how much does it cost?

seeking your advices :)

thanks in advance.. john

John,

One of the reason fuel fumes can enter the cabin is because the Charcoal Canister has gone bad, The Charcoal canister is the ones beside the Fuel Filter. And also check if the fittings around the Fuel Filter is still neat.

Ad for the pipes, u can change the whole set by using 8mm copper, no worries - there's a few Zth member here already using this setup and for as long as they are laid out nicely they will not bend or got scraped. Ah Nga in Kajang can do it for u.
