how about the sound produced?
any idea...

 english please.......... :P

 pls explain, newbie here, would like to know more

thanks a million

those sub you mention is called free air sub or infinite baffle. Not all speakers are designed to play IB.

IB subs usually required low power handling. The boot of your car will act as an enclosure itself. This setup is effective if you dont have space for an enclosure. Usually this setup are used in SQ setup.

hope this help.

If you want to do an isobaric configuration, do you need and infinite baffle subwoofer?

Wow, cool. So how is the speaker placed. Just held in place in the booth? Interesting. Good for cars with small both :P

no.
Isobaric enclosure will look like this

usually its not preferred because you need 2 driver to give you the result of 1.

IB setup will look like this

Isobaric loading has better power handling but it doesn't increase your overall sound pressure level as no cone area is increased.
