savvy vs myvi

hmm.. this thread seems going abit off topic :p just my own tot, will potong / pero2's air bag fails like won't pop out? air leak? or simply pop out even car runs through some poth hole? Anyway, there are ppl able to pay for perdana / cefiro / camry etc.. why not potong come out some "high-end" car if the quality is ensured, i belif the market is there

my comment here. 1stly, myvi and savvy is both in the supermini class just like starlet, micra/march, clio, jazz/fit, swift, getz, atos and not K car where the size must not exceed the length of a kancil. Kei cars received special tax in Japan and also special parking space where supermini just wont fit.

my fren admitted openly that proton is actually trying one more time (after failing with tiara) to penetrate into small car market currently hold by perodua. they are trying to sell their cars from a different perspective which is good ride and handling. this is evident in the use of 15" wheels and sturdier chassis which resulted in heavier kerb weight.

but proton always forgot how to please the would be buyer by designing the car properly, and improving build quality. i personally think the styling centre designed savvy to suit their own taste. and it really sucks!

this is where my vote goes.

1. exterior design - myvi
2. interior design - myvi
3. instrument meter design - myvi 1.3
4. ICE design - neither (singapore spec Sirion is actually using 2-DIN ICE!)
5. cabin spaciousness - myvi (savvy black interior make it feel cramped inside)
6. models range - myvi with 7 models line-up
7. power train - myvi 1.3
8. handling and ride - no idea but i believe savvy has the edge
9. nvh - no idea
10. passive safety - savvy
11. active safety - myvi 1.3 premium with ABS and twin airbag
12. dashboard design - myvi
13. steering wheel design - myvi (savvy is non adjustable, is myvi same also?)
14. headlamp design - myvi
15. taillamp design - myvi (light emitting diode)

plus points..
1. myvi has all doors power windows
2. myvi has 5 cupholders (if i counted correctly)
3. savvy use 15 inch wheels
4. i still prefer new swift ventilated front disc brakes with front wheel ABS.

and think about this...

at 42,000 u may get

1.0 manual myvi or
1.2 manual savvy. which one would u choose?

but add a few thousands and u r looking at a more powerful 1.3 DOHC 16V myvi which also available as 4 speed self shifter.

savvy stuck at one spec range. until proton managed to fix problems regarding the tiptronic autobox.

i put my money on myvi. but at 45K, shud i go for SGTI instead? or E30 BMW 320i? or 1988 Merc 190E? get a used perdana at 35K and convert to twin turbo 2.0 V6?

in the end i realised that actually i do not have the buying power. becoz no money larr.... :D

just now just test drive savvy ....handling is good...pick up good....but when carry 2 passenger go up hill then he car feels like struggling hard.....

I find these reports regarding the Myvi's grunt a bit odd actually. The same powerplant powers the Kembara (a 4WD off roader) and the Avanza (a SEVEN seater MPV). If these reports are valid, you should be seeing the latter 2 cars crawling up slopes all the time. You wouldn't be seeing any trying to get up Genting or the Karak highway for that matter. Unless Perodua did something that fucked up the engines performance really badly, I find this incredibly baffling.

Just curious, I keep hearing ppl say proton here defect there got prob .. this loose that loose. here sound there nyek nyek nyek..
I realised that too. But are you guys saying perodua is solid in built? No nyek nyek sound? No prob? Not very familiar with Perodua.. but from the look, int/ext.... it look like it gonna break just as well as proton.

cheers

yup ur right but u ever hear pero2 got problem i never heard it either but if proton lots

saga , satria ( power window . always kong )

perdana - gbox always kong

wira - same like satria

gen2 N waja . window also

but in perodua ... i never head any prob ...

yes silverfish... the myvi share the same engine as the kembara & avanza... engine code is K3VE.... the engne displacement of the kembara are straight like those SR20DET displacement where this same as avanza which only w/o 4wd...

for myvi... it will horizontal engine displacement....

as for power lay out i belief it will b much powerful then the 2 cars as mentioned....

zan: every car design comes wth their own concept n agenda, i'm not saying that i'm good at car design but its the matter of how u take it n understand it.

what i can say about savvy R3 is (if exist la) its for egoic n selfish ppl who dont 1 to take passenger, its a personal car. for urself to unwind.

u buy the car for ur own. no other reason.

yes i think so.... sorry man.... guess i have put the wrong words... terrible sorry

today is my first day saw myvi on the road...saw it at north south highway, cruising at 100kmph....

errr, as I know, that's not good for new car
01. travel at high speed, high rev
02. travel long distance

may cause damage to the new engine.

seems a bit out of topic ler..suppose to be savvy vs myvi..nw bcome dunno wat..

Cruising for 100kh/h still okay la, if he doesn't rev it hard to pick up.
