Reliability of the Mazda 626 Cronos

for carb...u need to get carb cleaner. Make sure u get those that are from US or Australia. STP, Justice Brothers (JB), Bardahl, CRC (Australia).

pour in your petrol tank and pump fuel so the lquid mixes properly.

spank,

all fuel injected cars and carburetors be it na/ turbo or supercharged come with throttle bodies.

For carbureted models, we have carburetor cleaners in fuel mixture form and also spray can form.

for fuel injected models, throttle body cleaners are usually in spray form.

But you have to be very careful when choosing your stuff.

remember in my earlier post i mentioned u can use carb cleaners for ur tb....well i was wrong. i just found out that carb cleaners will take away a layer film which coats the TB butterfly. and this will result in idling problems. I am sharing this with you because it happened to me.

the product mentioned by B8 turbo sounds ideal but i need to see the product and its content.

hope this helped.

cheers mate.

KFZE in GC body

Sorry to interrupt. Attached is a picture of the GC with the KFZE inside. Still work-in-progress, but so far so good.

WOW!!!!! :top:

Tell us more details will ya? like how much? easy conversion? where?

keep us updated, that looks really really cool.... and please let me have a ride in that when you're done, ya?

The car ain't mine, but helping the project a bit. Being done in a workshop in Batu Cave area. Will update later how it turn out.

Invghost, yes it is 2.0, but from GE body, so hp is 160. KFZE from lantis will be 170hp.

wat is the diff?? both v6 2l.

MX3,
Good project.
By the way, how much did u pay for the engine ?

And, one more question, do you have any idea which brand supply brake pads for KFZE in Malaysia ?

Appreciate your help.

My 'educated' guess would be that the tuning is different. The GE has a much heavier body compared to the Lantis and therefore would need more torque. So Mazda tuned the engine as such that there will be more torque available all over at the expense of some top end power.

So how close is my answer?

Fade2grey,
Most ppl dunno that in Japan, there is a Lantis Type R that uses KFZE. Its a factory produced car, not converted or modified by ppl.

The type R has 170hp and 185nm torque and some edition were fitted with LSD gearbox. I am very lucky to get a top range Type R lantis with all the above specifications.

One more thing to add, my halfcut is a Lantis, so fitting it is not a problem.

I agree. The KFZE on the Lantis actually was tuned by Posche, and the air flow sensor uses MAF part# B6BF (hot wire type). The KFZE on GE body uses VAF (JE50). This type of air flow sensor is quite restrictive (moving cone), but produce better torque at low RPM due to faster air velocity. I hope my theory make sense. The ECU is also different. Not sure what else is different...

kfze, I am not sure how much the owner pay for the GE h/c, but I think it is less than 3K. Lantis hc will be cheaper I think. About the lantis v6 brake pad, you could buy metal king. This is what I use on my GE as I have converted it to Lantis V6 disc and caliper (Lantis v6 front slightly bigger than GE front disc). Bought the pad from a shop in Kajang for $130. Let me know if you need more info.

Rgds,

Tuned by Porsche!?!?! Mun Kit, you lucky devil!!!!!! No wonder it was so smooth and brimming with torque/power lar.... For a 2 ltr NA engine, the response and the acceleration was pretty cool...

Thanks Fade.

Yup, not to brag about lantis, but this car is actually quite cool, in the sense that it has everything that most drivers wanted. Retractable side mirrors, digital aircon, projector lights, ABS, 4-disc brakes, automatic dimmer lights closed doors, good plastic/rubber on dashboard. Not many cars can have all those back in 1995.

Get a KFZE engine in lantis. Its fun to drive. Quote from Hot Verson (jap tuning video) : "....tuning is not only about power, but tuning is about the FUN and FEEL........"

You definitely have the fun and feel factor with KFZE.
