focal is good but there are a lot of better product, when going into SQ, there are more important factor than just to choose a expensive and great driver. e.g. installation and tuning

Damn....these ICERs r rich, if not super rich.......

lets not go overboard with brand wars.. be it SQ or SPL, there's no end to which brand is da best
for audiofreaks, audiolovers, music lovers, spending lotsa $$ is not a waste of money if one can afford it :_:

Focal is the best, Focal is the only comp for SQ. Others can throw.... For me for budget 2.3k is better I look for some other brands. If really survey more, for this budget can almost get a complete set with sub already. Is it really have invest(waste) 1-2k for a speaker then only considered as good SQ?

The new range Roger comp set... good also in SQ... price tag below RM700... normally we look at the comp performance itself & not at the price tag... kyheng.. sometime I'm not agree with U... coz U always look at the price tag.... I see afew forumer here take your advice but after 2 or 3 months... I saw them put the stuff in Ice for sale section...... I'm very sad coz they just lost 1k-2k... If U did not believe... U can check at ICe for sale section.... maybe they need more than U expected... actual RM2.3k not enough for entry level... now U said can get complete set Ice... what brand/model.... pleased don't make more ppl suffer...

Appleyard, if want to qoute, please qoute what all I said, not half. I ownself also never use Focal and some speakers cheaper than it the performance is better than it.
Oldskolboy, I think you make it wrong. So far I never reccomend to new forumer any brand to buy. I only say buy accordingly depend on the budget, not say this brand good or that brand good. Anyway if can please pm me all the newbies that sell their stuff, no point to shoot blindly.

ok lets make this very clear. What determines SQ or SPL? Is it the Hu you use? Or what speaker or what RCA or what amp or alternator?

Answer is only 30% right. Install and tuning makes those other 70%. To make generalization with Focal, DLS, Mohawk, Rogers or any other speaker or amp is good or bad for SQ is wrong.

Like i said its all based on preferences. You judge your own SQ.

Want my word for this thread? Stop the stupid product bashing.

SQ is only in the mind of the listener, each person WILL definitely have their own taste. Some would think Focal has the BEST ultimate SQ, but some would say Focal sucks coz it's too ear piercing. Want my take? It's ultimately down to the person buying and listening to it.

Of coz, it's funny how this "installer" actually recommended Focal with a Mohawk, that'll be the laugh of the year man... For a healthy budget of RM2.3k, i would reckon you have many options especially if you get used ones, getting used ones would also let you have the chance to audition before considering to purchase.

Happy ICEing :_:

Whoah guys, don't la bash all the brands, I started this thread for help!

Anyway, for everyones information, at the end I have to buy a new HU, I bought a Alpine 9853, so that alone is more then half of my budget already, and at the end I also bought a Alpine Type-X 177-SPR component speaker and connect straight to the HU for the mean time. And I'm already loving the sound quality from the Alpine Type-X speakers, surprising how good it sounds even without a proper amp, vocals sounds really sweet

BTW..Anyone got Steg 4 channel or Xetec amp you wanna let go?? Please PM me!!

Well... you'll be even more impressed wif the performance of the SPX-177R when you hooked it up with an amp :_:

Yes yes...i so so can't wait. You using Alpine type - X too bro?? Even without any amp I'm already impressed by it...worth my money :cyclops:

I've got friends using SPX-177R, not myself, me only have a chiplak setup :_:

If you have the time and chance, you can try playing around with the settings on the crossover to try to make it sound better. :X-:

Yeah. My Alpine 9853 got digital crossover...even without an amp, but after playing that settings abit...sounds better!! Somemore there is the Time Correction in the Alpine 9853...center staging right at my seat!! :_:

The alpine SPX 177R is value for money component. You wont get its full potential unless you hooked it up with an amp.

The tweets arent the best but i like the mids. Lots of ppl replace the tweets and the result is great.

I don't mind buying over the 177R tweeters if you are selling them :_:

jl65...u could try getting a alpine 4 channel mrv-f345 amp...reasonably priced powerful amp...think average price is rm1200...

Alpine 9853 the original price I can get is RM1600..but I got discount somemore...kakaka..:_:

Nahh..I think I'll stick with my tweeters for the mean time, I'm already loving the sound even without an amp!

Hmm, in sound quality wised, is it good? Don't need a powerful one. Was planning to buy the Steg 4 channel QM42.4 i think, can't really remember the model...but is around RM2.1k.. :emoticon_U:

think u mean QM75.4...QM45.4 pretty underpowered for your comps...
