got some question hopefully some sifu can attend to my questions here.

i've just bought a kit to start off with - the calsonic 350Z. previously i've ruined a Porsche 911 GT3 with a awfully done paintjob and some cement smear at the head and tailight and also the windscreen masking/coloring out of line by marker pen. so the end result - sigh.

let say with this calsonic 350Z, the main body color would be the calsonic blue which I've bought the Tamiya TS spray according to the color code given. How can i do a wonderful paint job to it with the can spray? If I've done with the blue, do I need to put a clear coat to get the ultimate shine on the body? If clear coat is required, should i put the clear coat first or the decal first? Or a layer of clear coat then decal then another layer of clear coat again?

What a primer does? Often I see ppl doing it by applying a layer of primer before the actual color.. Is it required for a more beautiful result instead of starting of the color on the plastic? Putty and primer act as the same, to cover up scratches or uneven pave on the body/shell of the project?

Hopefully I can start this project very soon and photo-document all the steps i'm doing, as I have not obtain all the necessary arcylic paint yet for this project. Toycity did not have a good collection of painting accessories, anyone can recomend where to get it beside Toycity in Klang Valley area?

Please enlighten.

and also, i'm looking at some D1GP kit & aftermarket tuner JDM cars from Aoshima as Tamiya are very limited to JDM cars. Does the manufacturer produce good quality body & wheels as Tamiya? Read earlier from this thread that Fujimi's earlier version kits sucks, but how about Aoshima? Or actually this 2 manufacturers improves their kit overall of recent?

nice diorama with the halfcut skyline. I think to make it more realsitic, you should have some mangled motorbikes to go with the car wreck. Throw in a few mat rempit s bodies strewn across the car. .....:

Blood and gory will help bro too

Well, i'm ok... but wouldnt it be better if u put it in the diecast section? :)

bro zen:I'm not any pro at all. It's just a carbon fibre decal applied on it :)

y dont u send it for Carbon Fibre airbrush instead of carbon fibre decals...
hehehe.. it just my opinion if u want the C.F. look clean

haha, i just opted for the decal becoz it's alot easier for me and just make do with wat i got. I've got lots of extra mesh because i've got 5 sets of photoetched parts but i'm lack of some enamel and plus, the tamiya smoke acrylic have bad reputation and i've bad experience with the smoke paint too. I was gonna clear coat the decal but..wat the heck, lately damn busy with work n my car..haha, so just leave it as it is..

but actually using a decal, u can see the 3d like weaving if u had fully applied and heated it up making it look realistic. Even with the clear coat on, u still can actually see it.

encikmasen,

there is a quite fully equipped Tamiya shop in 1U new wing at Basement 2 parking. just right below the mynews that is located at B1. saw some photo etched parts selling there today but i couldnt find the photo etched part for Calsonic Z that i want.. but u can give it a try.. they have a very wide range of Tamiya plastic injection kit which beat the collection in Toycity anytime plus all the tools - everything strictly Tamiya.

cheers

i noticed all posting pictures of completed projects.. no one wanna post WIP pictures? any scratch builders here?

i've 4 WIP at the moment, running simulteneously.. a Calsonic Z, Z-Tune R34, RE Amemiya RX7 and a suzuki cappuccino. the cappuccino will consist lots of customisation and scratchbuilding works. open WIP thread later when i'm at home..

Story has it that a 19-year-old teenager took out a Holden VY HSV Clubsport out for a test drive from Bundoora Holden in Victoria, Australia. All was going well until the young Aussie decided to push the pedal to metal on the last corner before the Holden dealership. The teen then lost control of the supped up Commodore which took off in the air after hitting a curb. The car went through the dealership’s gate landing...
