anybody now where to put transmission fluid treatment? where the place to put in? dunno where as wira se manual book dont show it.

just top up when you change the gearbox oil. car manufacturer will never encourage as they consider this as hoax because nowadays modern oil have the properties like addictive sold in cash and carry outlet.

especially auto gearbox on proton, adding something extra will bring misfortune to them. for an example, wira 1.6 xli (auto).

yes and no. if you have the necessary equipment (like funnel and hose), then is ok but do you know how to read the dipstick or not? the measurement of gearbox oil is not same with engine oil. diff:

engine oil = got min and max level
gearbox oil = cold and hot gauge

btw, what car you drive and is it auto / manual?

the reason why I say yes and no because, no harm filling in if you have the equipment but do you know how to fill in and read the dipstick? if yes, go ahead but make sure you don't overfill the gearbox. can get spoilt easily.

happy DIY...

i know how to read engine oil, but please teach me how to with gearbox oil. im driving wira se manual, just bought x1-r transmission treatment. if send to shop for the oil, how much will charge?

i can find the brake oil place.. engine oil.. but dunno where is it for gearbox. no such indicator or something... manual also dont show where to put in.

depends on your mechanic. if he see you as a newbie and feel easy to con, they will charge you like hell but should could you about RM5 to RM20 for gearbox oil change.

i have not own a manual wira car before, so i won't know the parts need to change but for auto wira, there is a filter and gearbox seal to change. i think it cost me RM20...not sure b'cos sold my car some time ago. then gear oil cost me RM40 to RM60.

back to the story, the there are 2 dip stick when you open the bonnet. one in front of the radiator cap (long stick). the other is really below. very low...you need to bend yourself and look at the base of the engine bay. you can see a short stick. that is the gearbox dipstick. remove the dipstick and you can see the gauge. well for wira auto there is a gearbox dipstick but for manual se i am not sure. try giving a look later today/tomorrow (when it is brighter)....

if not sure, look in your manual to check/read gearbox oil. if don't have, maybe manual se do not have dip stick (which is unlikely but i could be wrong). then go to the shop/mechanic and ask them to top up for you.

if you don't want to change/top up is ok, tell them you plan to change the gearbox oil (bluff to them) and ask them to check if it is still ok to drive or not...
ask them to check in front of you and if they give you funny ideas (like ohh....cannot drive anymore, have to change.....if drive couple of days, then gearbox will spoilt or some stupid story), tell them it's ok. i am a bit hurry for time, i will let you know when to come next/or tell them a story. then, being careful, go to another shop/few shop and ask them the same. if they tell you same story, then better check it out.

if your car is still under waranttee, go back to eon to check out for you. some people will ask you better not but i used to send my car to eon for certain repairs (major/unique repairs which require eon expertise).

once the mechanic show you how to check, then go back and do this check regularly. happy DIY
