Normally you would only use twisted pair in a balanced transmission system. Because the cables are twisted in such a way, and couples with the inverted phase of the signal , the generated EMF will cancel each other out. also, the twisted configuration ensures that any noise induced into the cable does so equally in both cables so that it can be "cleaned up" at the balanced input stage.
normally, there will not be any advantage to use twisted pair cables in unbalanced systems, it would be worse still if the twisted pair has no outer grounding layer, as it will be susceptible to noise...
unbalanced system -> go for normal co-axial cable with a ground sheath
if no choice -> get one with proper shielding
balanced system -> ok to go for twisted pair
