opinion on closer ratio gearset

i want to know what u guys think of close ratio gearset like ATS / KAAZ. what i heard from people, some said its good some said they're too short.

from the site that i saw, it seems that ATS has closer ratio than KAAZ.
i need ur opinion guys! especially from people who had them on their ride.

the big questions that i had on mind is that would it be reliable for daily drive? will the car get better times on drag strip? and hows the car go on track, coz if its too short the engine will scream like crazy rite?
still thinking whether this parts will be on my next mods list or not :P

for all i know kaaz is shorter than ATS, not the other way around. closer ratio will help u to get better time in drags, thus it will increase ur track time too (ATS was made for track racing), 4.785 was equipped with the b18crs 98 batch for a reason.

suitable for daily driving? almost 5k rpm for 110 kmh on 5th gear.

ahhh so kaaz is shorter than the ats? coz i saw the ratio somewhere on the net..
anyway so if the review is good i might get em' :P

you cant have both man, 4.4 with kaaz the best if 4.7 its super short!! kaaz about rm2.5 i think!!

i got 1 4.7 with type-R LSD for sale 1.9k

Using ATS 3,4,5 with 4.4 FD. 110kmh 4800rpm. 90kmh 3800rpm, both on 5th gear. OK for street driving, but i've reduced my average cruising speed from 110kmh to 90kmh due to shorter ratio. Also safer that way. On the tracks, depend on your engine power, u prolly can redline on 5th gear at the back n front straights. Very enjoyable on track, but hafta use better gear oil. At the dragstrip, also slight improvement, but shortening ur gear ratio too much is not so good. See your power n torque curve, then calculate your ratio to see what rpm each gearchange puts u in. Then u'll know if it's good for u at the drag.

My 2 cents' worth.
 
yeap, killerb is right, your gear ratio performs better when u know which ratio suits your engine. for me, i will go for ATS anytime with 4.4, kaaz is just too short.
