What is the setting of a BOV? How do i know what level should i set? Is there a guide to set?

Thanks.

loosen the adjuster until the engine is dying (idling badly). then slowly tighten the adjuster until the car idle ok. then u give some throttle, engine will probably die if the adjuster's still loose. tighten it until the engine stays on after full throttle. no need to drive around, just twist the throttle linkage at the throttle body.

my explanation may not be understandable, sorry

wht khoyos said is correct....tighten the spring if ur goin to die after u rev it....tighten till its stable after u rev it....

as for me, i tighten it to the max and drive around. and keep on loosing the spring until the turbine doesnt emit the chirping sound when off throttle.
khoyos, by doin what u described, ur bov will actually vent boost even on acceleration. ive tried it, but if its okie for ur ride, den maybe dis blacktop guy shud go ur way. its more simple :)

in my case, i turn it to the softest. even then below 1 bar, no bov sound. not complaining though, using greddy type-r hehehe

Guys,

I tried last nite and the result came out ugly. I unscrew the set-screw until whole screw came off but the engine still running smoothly. Why is this? do I need to take of the vacuum hose during the setting?

Thanks.

Guys,

Tried last nite and it didn't work the way it should with the setting screw unscrewed fully and with the vacuum hose still intact, and still my engine running smoothly.

Do I need to take off the vacuum hose during setting? Please advise.

Thanks.

eh?

you dont have to remove the vacuum hose. did you rev up the engine and let it drop to idle during setting or not?

you should set the setting to the softest...then ram the revs up and let it idle. if wanna mati engine, tighten by half round. then rev up the engine again. do until the engine is able to idle during free rev. then switch on aircond and rev again. if still wanna mati engine tighten somore.

how come you can adjust till screw come out one...heheheh...

i thought u dont know what is blowoff valve :P

duno wats wrong.. after pasang IC n BOV(type S) my car idling not stable edi... rpm needle will fluctuate occasionally.

wats the prob? some ppl say the ECU haven learn the setting, some ppl say got leak somewhere...

also when rev up high during idle(3-4k), rpm will drop until about 450rpm then come back up.. but BOV tarak lepas angin punyer suara lagi.

wat seems to be the prob?

assuming that ur bov is properly adjusted, then it must be the gasket to the blowoff valve. try using a gasket sealant.

in saying that... there also could be a leak in my IC system correct? coz i did the IC and the BOV at the same time..

should prolly plug out the BOV and see if my problem goes away. if it does.. then it confirms its the BOV problem..

argh.. why didn't i take my steps 1 at a time?
