Adjusting BOV

hurmm.. adjusted bov (blitz s.sound) to max. soft setting..still got the surge sound.

i open it and remove the adjuster plate inside the bov (more softer).. less surge..

hope there will be no leak..;)

Blur,
Thanks man. I think I got it. The current BOV I'm using is not a good one. Made in Taiwan and I believe it's for low boost, or could be leaking somewhere. I am looking for a higher boost BOV now. After tightening the BOV to the max., all I hear now is the bouncing back sound when I tekan slightly. Only when I really floor it, then I hear the BOV.

4segi,
I think the kulukulukulu sound is the pressure bouncing back to the turbine. Minimise that sound and it will save you big bucks.

A fren of minre was boosting at 0.5 and tried using SARD R2D2 before.

The R2D2 could not open even at softest setting of the spring.

I think R2D2 is rated somewhere at 0.7 bar because that very same R2D2 which my fren tried using was bolted onto a GSR and it opened nicely.

Does SARD make R2D2 vehicle specific or it is a "one-size-fits-all" kinda BOV?

Anyway, becareful when buying BOVs because some BOVs only opens above 0.7 bar.

Yeah.. i believe there are indeed spring rate's which you have to check out.. but the problem is most user's or even tuner's for that matter tend to ignore it.. Just like I did.. hahahaha... sorry to admit but true.. I don't even know my own BOV's spring rate.. sigh..

apexi twin chamber claims that the BOV can open for low boost and for high boost.. thats why it's call twin chamber... personally.. i've used this BOV before.. it works great on most types of engines.

I've also come across articles stating that tiwn chamber helps minimise throtle lag by not releasing all the boost at one go.. it opens the valve in 2 stages.. first stage being partially opened.. the second stage being totally opened.. so in case you let go of the throtle and instantly jab back on it.. there will be minimal jerk felt.. That's what i remember reading.. not sure as how it applies in real life.. :p

i have a small problem...

i would like to know why my blitz blow off that has 3 sound ...

only goes pusssssssst(very loud) when in high boost.....

when going slow and the sound give way like trrrrrrrrrrt....

and kulukulukulu.....after ajusting the settings on the blow off..

do i need to modify something to get those sound at high boost..?

how do i get the sound like (very loud) za..za..za..za..za..tat?

any hotai have advice....

If you heard "za..za..za..za..za.." from another car zooming by... it could be his/her wastegate.. hahaha... Potential Monster.. hahaha.. p.s: not joking about the wastegate..

I believe you would get the same asnwer as carcraze.. it's all on adjusting the BOV.. but then again.. if you don't face the problem of engine shutting down why mess with it? And if you want the BOV to sound like high boost constantly just loosen it.. but be careful not to start the problem of engine shutting down.. that happens when it's too loose...

I understand from my mech that setting it too loose can also introduce boost leak.. i.e: the BOV opens but does not close back once your boost kicks in.. "Think Wastegate" :p

Wow.. mind telling me your boost? :p it could be that the boost is too low for the BOV to open in the first place?

me running 0.5bar only.. the bov is damn hard. the spring too stiff.

Blur_civic: Just took me ride for a spin. theres oil leaking from the BOV.. but engine oil... or izzit?.. i think i'm fucked. my car has lost alot of power and is emmiting white smoke from the exhausts upon full throttle..

What are the symptoms of a 'kong-ed' turbo?

What are the symptoms of a cracked piston?

after takin it out for a ride... ah fuck... i dont wanna imagine the worse. but it looks like oil practically 'spat' out of the BOV.

fuck man.

Woh.. I seriously ain't knowledgable enough to answer this man.. hahaha..

To be honest... there seems to be too many problems happening at the same time.. what you mention is really scary man.. have to have it check asap..

But at least now you know why you have low engine oil (from previous post).. have to find the source of it.. could be from the turbo itself..

No prob.. Hope to have helped.. :)
Erm... but at what boost readings does you start heaving the BOV.. cause it is a little scary hearing you say that you tightened your BOV to the MAX... worried that the BOV does not open early enough under boost... which it should to ensure long run reliability.. might want to try loosen it a little..

hmm... possibility of not having enough air volume?

it's good that someone with experience is sharing about Blitz Super Sound..
Other potential buyers take note.. :)

did some testing today.. huh..the bov always wants to pish pish.. even at -0.2bar. abit slow sound tho.

wanna change gear also scared people think i wanna show off..hihih

now the surge sound not so loud..:)

some tips, if u r using bov that can be disassemble, try change the spring to a softer one.

exposed piston type bov (eg, blitz s.sound) can be stuck sometimes coz of dirt entering the chamber.. i've clean my bov and use polish compounds (the fine liquid type sandpaper.. forgot the name..hehe)..
polish the piston and inside the bov.. so the surface will be smooth..
;)

Adjusting BOV or NOTT!!

Guys,
Finally managed to solve my engine dying off prob. It's not b'se of my BOV but the mech. merely connect a hose frm the throttle to my air-intake piping. It was solved, immediately. According to the mech., it's called FICD hose.

If anyone want to find out about this prob., go to Sky Zone Performance Cars in Sunway Mas. Experienced bugger in Mitsubishi engines.

If you all want to look for him and don't know the way, let me know. I'll guide you.
