Hi,

I'm a new member here

My Honda jazz 2005 (IDSI) making some engine knock noise like Proton Wira & Iswara and jerking when slow driving.
I have sent to the Honda SC(Kulim) and they said my engine need to be decarbonized(Overhaul). But i doubt it.I try to check my EGR and clean it.The problem still occur and then I try to remove the EGR connector and drive.Wala..no jerking and knocking sound .So what happen actually? I cannot drive my car while the EGR connector unplugged...I suspect must be something to do with the sensor. The engine knock noise getting loud and clear when the engine is hot enough or climbing the hill.Is there any one know what is the possible cause and where can get the specialist to solve this problem in Penang.

Yep....but the sound still there.
My friend ask me to try NASA oil treatment. Some time it can help to eliminate the knock sound.Duno.. but i'll try it.

Did you find the solution?
My Honda city idsi is having the same problem. Another friend with same Honda model face the same situation. I know this post is old but it will help us what to do next without grinding the valves( open top half engine). Thanks

done all the above suggestion, even kept cleaning with preston(kind of expensive compare with others) fuel injector. Guess, the option is to clean the piston valves with removable of carbon deposit. Using Amsoil all these years, and thought it might gives a good protection and also using iridium plugs for last few years as well. Some said it could be the EGR sensor, went to Honda service centre, told me to clean EGR plate. After reading about a jazz idsi, with similiar problem, even cleaning EGR at Honda service centre , still couldn't solve. I am going to use Mobil 1 entended Performance for next oil change. And will decide when using Mobil. Some said it might quiet or help to reduce the knocking sound. Thanks for your comment.

use thicker viscosity does help to reduce noise... especially in aged car....

you said, you used iridium, are you aware of your iridium plug heat range and gap ? NOT all plug is the same, just remember that.

I've tried few things whether it will solve the problem. Firstly, I added a voltage regulator which helps my player inconsistence and to give rapid firing power for plugs, but the knocking sound remain. Tried Preston fuel injector cleaner and knocking sound still obvious. Recently, I read an ad on Caltex petrol that " question the knocking sound from our car engine". I change my petrol to Caltex from Shell which I have been using since Ron 95 was introduce which gives the best milage. With the first Rm20 of Caltex Ron 95, it solve the knocking sound from the engine. Good milage as well. I guess Caltex finally catch up with Shell. Now I will continue to use Caltex petrol. No need to open top engine to decarbonize piston valves. Thanks guys for all your suggestion.

Perhaps you can try Threebond? I hate to push stuff, but it solved the jerkiness in my brother's satria. The culprit was a very very dirty throttle body and the sensors were gunked up.
