yes, one of the very first reason would be the 'night lights' that should be clear. the second would be the colour of the projector lense.

EvoMR,

sorry bout the earlier pics, anyway, hope this works....

EvoMR,

i maybe fat and clumpsy, but when it comes to this..... i am darn agile~!!! hope it turns out well... if not, hailat! dont forget my rims ya.... vtec king will pass it to you tomorrow.

Just to ask, how about the consumption of the EVO 7 GT-A ? Since it's auto, does it take up more fuel ?

A 48-litre full tank is RM68 and assuming it does 300KM's, it's 0.22 cents per km :D

Hi all,

I maybe returning to KL sometime this month or next and i am comtemplating whether to buy an Evo7(2001) or Harrier (00/01), so i hope you guys could help me out.

I was thinking to myself, Harrier is more of a vehicle for the older/much mature generation where else evo is speed and sporty looks right? My question is, if i don't play speed now, don't think i will do that when i grow older.

Anyhow, here are a couple of questions i have for Evo7 owners:

1) I heard from a friend of mine that the Evo7 has slip-disc problem with the clutch, is that true?
2) I haven't really seen the inside of an Evo7 but i would like to find out if it can fit a In-Dash LCD DVD player without obstructing the aircon, meters, switches or gearknob?
3) how about the boot space, would it be able to fit in 2x 12" woofers? and still fit a golf-bag?
4) the next question is a silly question; is the body hollow like the protons?
5) usually when u mod your evo7, do you buy new parts or used? eg. bigger intercooler, turbine, exhaust system, ECU and etc? If used, is it easy to find them?
7) know anyone selling used Evo7 or recommend dealers?

By the way, i do not really know about car parts but i would like to start learning.

Thanks in advance.

E7 clutch slip problem? All evos will not have that problem if not abuse. Wear n tear is common for launches and upgrade to better ones :D

It's a single DIN and can be opened up to Double-DIN, so no problem at all.

EVOs boot are not that pathetic la, of course no problem as long as ur sub box don't protude beyond the suspension anchor area

Hollow like Protons? Hmmm... having owned only E7, E8 and now E8MR - I wil rate it on par with Waja, nothing come close to my E39 or any other continental makes.
However, the welding points are abundant and body is rigid solid, try lifting or stop at an angle on a ramp. Open n close doors... compared to other makes and you are in for a surprise!

Upgrade parts are abundant, not cheap though. Both new n used are available.

EVO 7/8/MR for sale? Hmm, make an announcement here, I am sure there are!

2 last question:

1) which would be the best shop to mod e7 in KL? mechanics who understand e7 very well.

2) i am looking for used e7, what would be the market price at the moment for 2001 model? i saw a couple of ads, ranging from 165k to 185k neg; is that the market value?

err... I really dunno coz as for me knowledge is power. Letting someone tune and mod and parting with your money hoping to gain the power n torque kingdom is a no no, not here in Malaysia just yet. Which as a result I go for training in HKS Thailand and took some long break to be a small potato in Japan to get the real tuner capabilities, pros and cons of tactics and tricks... it's a long story.

1) which would be the best shop to mod e7 in KL? mechanics who understand e7 very well.

pricing can be sourced from Motor Trader and by word of mouth. Cheap deals may end up expensive as u may need to change the rotors, pads, and flush lubricants. Higher price does not mean better specs, most of the time it's the outer paint condition and so called well equipped specs that fetch a higher price... maybe u can short list a few and give me a call... I am sure there are few fellow members here that are far pro and well verse in this arena, pls share your thoughts...

netracer,

thanks for the tip and advice.

know anyone selling used Evo7?

just serviced my e 7 last week.. and here goes the bill..

1. motul 4.5 fully syn engine oil (4.5 litres) rm275
2. mitsubishi's ori oil filter rm38
3. motul lsd + gearbox oil (total 5 litres) = rm500
4. change my battery to dry cell type (delkor) = rm230

damn expensive... will go to other shop next time....

lazzy.. i just like to share some thoughts on e7 ..

1) i'm an avid gilfer as well.. and e7 boot can house 3 x golf bags with no issue at all... you can squeeze in 4 if you like....

2) performance parts are damn easy to find.. plenty in KL / SUnway area....

3) you can easily fit in single DIN or even double DIN VCD/DVD player without affecting the ergonomics of the car.. i have mine installed!

4) yes.. evo tends to use quite a bit of clutch.. but imagine the torque and the horsepower that the engine is generating, and the type of driver who's driving the car.. of course the wear and tear of the clutch will be faster than most cars....

but.. 1 extremely dangerous drawback about owning an evo is that THIEF!!!!!!!!!

i went to few workshops in Sunway last week and saw quite a few e7 and e8/mr without seats.. apparently the thieves now like to steal the seats than the whole car....... a friend of mine just bought his 8mr from USF. his car was broken into the 3rd day he got the car home. and guess how much USF quoted for the replacement of 8MR recaros (front and back).... RM95,000 i couldnt believe my friend until he actually showed me the quotation from USF malaysia...

damn crazy eh????

so... better becareful.. of course.. harrier is also a thief-magnet car!!

Err... its RM95K or RM9500? how can it be so expenvise?? my god. beside the seats any other things? thanks

hi bro.. u read me correctly..

rm95K......

damn expensive kay...

according to the service manager of USF, this is because the seats are sold piece by piece, e.g the back rest is 1 part and the seat is 1 part, and the lever is 1 part, that's why it is damn blardy expensive..

yah... my friend's MR seat front and back kena tahpau.... rear tail lights , radio, center panel also kena tahpau and not to mention, his evo 8 mr emblem also kena tahpau all in 1 night...

pity him lah... i suggest that you be extra careful and makesure your alarm is always activiated.
