hey dudes! got some questions here.. maybe already been asked but just wanna re-confirm.. anyways..

01. the lights are very hot when switched on. if you stuff them in water hoses/tube won't the tube melt/burn?

02. if tube cracks/breaks but you still switch on, will electric current run and f*ck up the car's circuit system?

03. can these be left on if the road is wet (after raining) or during rain? since they are not meant to be used under wet conditions, won't it danger your car circuit system?

04. i read that neons can't stand vibrations in this thread. if so, what are the lights that car accessory shops sell? aren't they neons? does that mean the lights sold at these shops are not made to be fitted under the car?

05. i saw some neons being sold in brother's kelana jaya, the packaging is transparent and wordings are in japanese i think. so far those neons are the longest i've seen, almost as long as the side of a satria (they have other sizes besides that). has anyone seen those? any comments on that? how to determine the brightness of these lights sold at the car shops?

thanks.

dude,

1. the lights wil not get hot when switched on... it only get a little warm.. i'm using it for more than a year... no probs... de water tubes it to protect it from stones n vibrations

2. it will not shock.. de element wil just burn due to exposed to air

3. i on it on all kinds of weather... as long as it is nite... :P heavy rain or not.. no prob...

4. neons by itself cant stand vibrations... however.. if they come with protective casing n proper mountings.. then it is okay to mount them under de car... but they're much more expensive then flourescent tubes..

5. those long neons are damn too expensive.. n if they break.. ur heart breaks too.. :P

my reviews:
1. using flourescent is safe from electrical shock provided u connect all ur wirings neatly n correctly.. n make sure de DC choke metal part DO NOT touch de metal body of ur car!! try to get those all-plastic casing ones

2. using flourescent tubes is much cheaper n much much brighter than neons... they are easy to maintain.. replacements is also much cheaper..

3. some ppl may think u r an ah beng driving around with those lights.. but i personnaly dun think so... cos not much ppl know how to install dat lights...

Just don't switch on the light during raining/flooding day lar...no one will see the light underwater also  ..

I think only high wattage fluorescent light will get hot...(but not that hot also la)...hotter than warm only...i can still hold it with my hand... :D ...but don't hold the ballast..
