For the list of cars below , need help urgently thank you

1.) mitsubishi evo 8
2.) Honda s2000
3.) Nissan Silvia s14

anyone knows where to convert or who knows how to do it professionally? me and my friends need some help

my fren did it at Sabah....but other model car la

but u gotta make sure u found all the parts for RHD..dashboard all hv to changed....kinda consume time....

my 2 cents....

i've had friends converting lhd to rhd and at the end of the whole saga, the cost involved was simply not worth it as there is a lot (a LOT) of work to get it working right.

well me and my friends are bringing cars back from US...... if it is not worth converting? is it legal to drive with lhd in malaysia kl?

Yeah its legal to drive LHD in malaysia. Just be ready with smart tag for tollgates though...

BTW it is a fad in Japan to drive LHD cars to look cool (just like the other way round in US)

well but rhd in US is not legal *laughs*

so i would like to check on that issue for malaysia if i am able to convert them , i mean it's fine with me if there is no issues with using LHD cars legally , like u dont get harressed by cops and all

anyone who is a lawyer or knows the law knows?

in the US the issue is not because its RHD, but because its safety and environmetal specs is not to the US standards.

but there are loopholes though (the via canada imports)...

thats why the 1st gen porsche 996 GT3 was not sold there... as is the 3.2l E36 BMW M3.

But there is no such thing in malaysia, heck there is even one LHD wira driving around my neighbourhood.

i dont think RHD in USA is illegal, i see GTRs driving all around.... but 1 thing for sure to bring in RHD cars to US - is a waste of $$, the only car you may wan to bring in to US is the GTRs, and with the selling price of the GTR34 around USD80k after all the paperwork done to get the car in, i'd rather buy a brand new BMW 6 series or porsche carrera.

ppl bring GTR into the US just to look cool....or some now bringing in S15 just for drift - which i suppose they do it like when in malaysia we bring in cars from japan for track/drift only -- cannot register and not road legal.

well, DRFT 240, in the same way i think it is not worth to bring in LHD car into malaysia, first of all, you have to pay DUTY & TAX in cash, no installment, the moment u take the car out form the port, u pay duti & tax to customs. do some calculation, u'll find that buying an evo8 or S14 locally will not be really that expensive compared to bringing in from US....

just take evo as example -- used EVO8 in US now probably around USD28k, after converting to RM around 105k. that is before tax and AP, after tax and the money you pay for AP, shipping etc etc, it will come close to the price of a used EVO in malaysia locally - how much now? 180k??.... AND you still have a LHD with a lot of inconvenience....

just my opinion... ofcos if u have lots of cash and wanna look cool, then its ok..... :)

hey thx all for the feedback.....where are u at driftagter?

evo 8 is around 20k or so, a friend is selling.......

so no where to convert? ok thanks all.....

drft 240sx - i'm in L.A.

hey 20k is good price, i see many are still selling at 25-28k....

anyway, 1 more thing - the best way to get the conversion done is to get a half cut, then u get everything u need. with the half cut, i think many shops will be able to do the conversion for you....

also, if i am not wrong, u need to have the car registered under your name for 9 months or a year before u can import to malaysia under personal AP - same requirement as those AP from Japan, otherwise u need to use commerical AP - i donno where to get and how much it will cost u but surely will be COSTLY!!

oh the USDM evo8 is also in many ways a cheaper version of the JDM evo8. it has only 5speed and there is no ACD or AYC. not to mention no LSD in front wheels...

import or not? your call, but if im given the choice i would import a civic coupe, the 2.5litre WRX STi or a mitsu Eclipse (cant convert RHD though)... or the latest mustang hehehehe...

wow..
a topic i've been contemplating alot on.
volvos are bloody cheap here but they're all in LHD.

what need to be changed for LHD to RHD?
dashboard, steering rack, drill hole in firewall, what else?

the msian govt is having a drive (been there for years) to gets its people back from overseas. one of the incentives is that you can bring your car back to msia TAX FREE (or something to that extent). look it up. however, the drive isnt that successful for rather obvious reasons.

there's another thing that has to mentioned. undertable $$ for all govt offices when doing your paperwork.

trying to dig up an ol thread.....actually,how is it done?to convert a lhd car to rhd?
