4g91 carb not many tuners around... coz japan mali carb and it is not popular...

why ur proton using 4g91 carb at the first place??... where ur oem carb??..
 
for the Saga, my original carburator is still under my bed...i m thinking of changing back to it if there is no solution for the abovementioned problem...
 
one more systoms i notice on this carb is that when i deccelerating, off throttle, i can hear the 'poping' sound from the ekzos paip...sounds like a lean poping to me...but i still not clear how to solve the hessitation....jerk everytime i press the gas padle really makes me to loss confident of driving this car...sifu pls help me to teach this naughty 4g91 carb...thanks...:itsme:

poping may cause from the timing that too advance...check your timing at the workshop using timing light...normally it will be 10 degree at 850-1000rpm....
 
hi, i'm having some prob wif toyota se 4af carb. (standard carb)

1. the car doesnt feel rite (b4 this felt really torquey n surprised wif d pwr even 4 stock engine )
2. got strong fuel smell from the muffler
3. Carb leaking
4. spark plug black color (i think 2 rich gua)

Things that ad done
1. carb cleaned using wd40
2. new air filter
3. new spark plug
4. new petrol filter
5. noting wrong wif spark plug cable
6. did tuning ad (many times actually)

Went to a few diff mec (min 4 -5), all saying diff things. These are the probs listed by the mecs
1. Carb kong ad (hav 2 chnge cuz smthing to do wif butterfly not opening)
2. engine compression out (need over haul)
3. change 2 4age
4. old car ad ma, so normal laaa....

im seriously tired wif all this.. can anyone suggest or enlighten me on wats d real prob.. is it the carb or the engine?

any replies will truly b appreciated...
 
bro...dun use wd40 as carb cleaner...it will kong ur spark plug...correct me if im wrong...

2. got strong fuel smell from the muffler (change your fuel line rubber, change your fuel pump, change your petrol filter)
3. Carb leaking (check all the hose to your carb, from petrol to air)
4. spark plug black color (i think 2 rich gua) (yeah, very rich and advance timing)

Things that ad done
1. carb cleaned using wd40 (waste money and time, use ur hand to pump & tarik d throttle 9 9)
2. new air filter (no difference)
3. new spark plug (use back normal plugs, no.5 or no.6. dont go use high end 100 buck per stick kinda plugs)
4. new petrol filter (then it must be your fuel hose rubber located under/behind your trunk which is the fuel tank)
5. noting wrong wif spark plug cable (check your distributor and ignition coil)
6. did tuning ad (many times actually)

which part of ur carburetor is leaking??... i suspect bottom of ur carburetor... if so, air will leaks out... less fuel, more air, rich air fuel ratio....

u clean ur carburetor with wd40 regularly??... wd40 could be the cause wearing out ur carburetor gasket...

thanks 4 d lengthy advice... first time using carb engine, so really2 noob... bro, bout the compression thingy, this is wat the mec told:

"Since compression out, spark plug cant burnt fuel effectively, hence the petrol smell.. he also say no prob wif carb, spark plug and cables.. so, confirm compression prob "

will check and try each of ur advice to solve the problem.. if cannot, i think hav 2 come to ur place la... which part in kepong? near mitch's place ar??

carb era will be here always, we never forget our roots :biggrin:

wanna cry ar remembering that time...still study,saving half of the money given by my parent to mods my proton knight...buy webber dcnf40,pnp,bigger clutch and etc...always not enough money that time but the spirit to mods the car finally make me archive what i want...:bawling:

mayb because the float inside damaged adi, causing it to overflow inside....
 
I hear a mechanic said there's no reason to open the carb up for cleaning cos there's nothing to clean . Is it true ? can the aisan carb be opened up and clean ?
My carb problem for now is when stop driving for one or two days , when start and wait until the engine warm the car rpm will go up and down and when using too much electricity the car will also do that .
really confused dont know which one is faulty the carb or the electrical parts ..............

the car seems smooth after the mec. change the old (but untouch still with the protective cap on) oil adjustment screw and said now the oil needle is at original position . at first the car is smooth but after one or two day the problem start again the rpm going up and down again .
 
ur mechanic talk crap ahh.... why nothing to clean... ur carburetor is sucking air... even if u using air filter, there will be tiny bit of dirt build up inside over the years... when the dirt gets more n more, it will clog up the air jet inside.... causing ur engine to jerk and so on....

maybe your mechanic is too lazy to layan carb anymore coz nowaday most of the car use efi...:thefinger::hmmmm:

wat do u mean by float inside damaged? does this mean i need 2 change the carb??

reading through the threads, i realize v can replace a carb wif weber.. wud like to noe if anyone got use weber for toyota 4af engine.. wud like some feedback.. do i need 2 strengthen the internals and can d engine take d torture of weber? besides the weber and manifold wat else is needed?

Finally, is it a worth while investment?? cuz from wat i read from the threads, weber is truly fun...

P:S looking towards a DCNF or DGAV (correct me if im wrong ) cuz i heard DCOE is more 4 track application. thank u.
