:P

ksgoh..

can...as i said, bitumen strips/paint is for vibration damping.. so u stick them onto de metal part.. them stick de superlon on top.... depending which part of car u wanto soundproof...

for door.. bitumen onto de inner metal part... then de superlon u stick onto de door panel....

if bonet... stick bitumen onto de metal.. then stick superlon on top of it...

if under carpet.. stick bitumen onto de metal part.. then just put de superlon on top... no need glue also can... cos de gravity n ur carpet will hold it in place... then dun have glue smell in ur car...

generally.. bitumen is for damping... superlon is for sound insulation...

my 2 cents B)
thanks for ur explaination....another 1 question, it is possible i install the speakers first, then i only out in bitumen and superlon??

bitumen wont get into contact with de speakers bcos u r bitumening the door metal part... so no worries for this part..

superlon with ur speakers installed? sure.. in fact easier to superlon cos de speaker oledi in place.... if u superlon b4 u install speaker... then u have to worry de superlon blocking de mounting hole.. (note dat i superlon my door panel, not de door)

for me... i just cut an X on the place where de speaker sit.. then trim off de unwanted pieces of superlon...

wha...good workmanship laa...this bitumen might reflect heat from enigne as well....just guess....hehe

de bitumen strip is 2" wide wan.. about rm2x dun remember exact price....
can get at hardware shop... cos dat time de shop only got 2"

just tell them "hak yau kou" (cantonese) (black oil paste) for sealing roof
of "or yiu koh" (hokkien)

i use about i think less than half a roll... de rest can use on other places lor...

ksgoh,

thanx! B) reflect heat ah? maybe kua...

something to share..

1. when wanto stick bitumen strip.. make sure ur firewall is clean.. wash 1st if oily.. then use cloth to wipe... if not clean later de strips will come out..

2. use a ruler to measure the place b4 u cut de strips.. then when u stick... sure fit fit wan....

3. when u stick de strips, press a little with ur fingers.. then use a cloth to wipe de strip(give a cushion effect) with pressure so dat it will stick evenly n smooth.. (dats y u c mine is good workmanship) :P

4. then after few days check whether de strips got peel off or not...

tips:

for firewall.. dun use 4" strips cos very hard to stick... my hands have to menuever into de engine bay... n when evrything finish.. my hands got many cuts cos of the wires, connectors, sharp things....

jack up the front of de car to ease de job.. so dat u dun have to bend down so much!! real tiring...

will check it out when i pass thru any hardware shop today.....khguan, can do for me as urs, i mean free....:D

u do urself lar.... i oledi explain how to do liao mah... i dun have time ah... my tests n assignments is around de corner liao.....

i tell u... if u DIY urself... when completed.. de satisfaction u get is much more n better....

and when u show to other ppl.. u feel more proud mah.....

i understand laa.......just kidding..... :P

some question to ask

1)will the bitumen strip corrode the metal???

2)if i don't want to wash away the grease on the door (ext layer) can i stick the bitumen strip on it? will it tear off??

any buddy asked the prices liao???
i cannot ask cos work unitl so late all the shop close liao ;)

corrode metal ah? duno wor.. have to ask those dat learn chemistry b4...

i think wun kua cos de metal got a coat of paint liao, then bitumen is something like grease... (last layer in petroleum penyulingan berperingkat)

for me.. i use thinner to wipe off the grease on de door 1st then only stick bitumen.. de grease is anti-karat.. if u stick on de grease i think cant stick for long time...

i think if bitumen also will act as anti-karat cos it it used to seal water leakage... so no water will get into the place where u stick them...

badguy,

u go hardware shop on sunday lar.. most of them open half day on sundays...

Isn't bitumen flamable? i would use that much in the engine bay if i were you.
