Auto vs Manual

lucian...not same i think...kumar thinking of being serviced...while izso is thinking of servicing...wakakkakaka

Anyone pls giv some comments & opinion.

Pros of Auto
~ big advantage in traffic jam
~ easy & relaxing driving

Cons of Auto
~ less power compare to manual of the same car
~ must owes change auto transmission oil

Pros of Manual
~ more power compare to auto of the same car
~ transmission oil last longer than auto
~ more fun if driving on track coz play with gears

Cons of Manual
~ very worst in traffic jam
~ no much relaxing drive

anymore that can be add...:burnout:

I just changed form manual car to auto... Jsut want to add my 2 cents!

Pros of Auto:
Nice to drive in traffic jam

Cons of Auto:
Sometimes not nice to drive in traffic jam (Too free, not use to it. Feel useless)
I HATE x 10000 the rubber band effect
Slow response
Very terrible fc if you don't do enough highway driving (like my area, kk, sabah)
Wouldn't chose the right gear for you sometimes (i.e., when you slow down form 80km/k to 30km/h, it doesn't downshift from 4th. So when you want to accelerate again, response is weak. My gearbox tip top. Just that the programming ain't that smart).

Pros of Manual:
Feels fun and involving to drive
Instantaneous response
Very good FC
Doesn't make me feel useless and sissy
Not so bad to drive in traffic jams sometimes because left leg needs exercising too.

Cons of Manual:
It's a B**** to drive it in heavy jams.

@ arturo ~ OMG !!! u are the most experience here :biggrin::biggrin:
We should learn from u hw to servicing & been serviced :adore::adore:

@ veloc ~ Thanks for sharing.. even i don hav auto car but i got ride my frens 1 !!!
Ya, feel that too..:ridinghorse:

haha...i found that remark a little amusing...what do you mean by rubber-band effect though?

And btw what car is this on?

cheers

why would we need our hand bro when ****** hot chicks??
i can only see a use for her hands and mouth heheheh
:adore:

sifu!

rubber band effect = tekan accelerator n have delayed reaction?

This can be resolved la. It's not as responsive as manuals but the reaction delay can be reduced quite significantly.

Yeah that... That S****y laggy feeling... Not obvious when you start from standstill in first gear. But when you want to do mid-range acceleration, overtaking etc, sucks la... Now mine is better since i change back to the stock s-flow muffler with more backpressure. Previously using straight flow muffler 2.0". Acceleration is just nonsense...

Oh and who asked in what body? It's a standard 1.6L 4AFE in AE111 body.

Generally - autos need a certain amount of backpressure to work well. The Corolla 4-speeder isn't a slouch but its no match for manuals la.

If you have the budget - lightening, balancing, stroking and high compression setup will help a lot. I'm not sure what sort of affect undersized and lightened pulleys might have but some say it improves low end torque.

Oh and it won't hurt to have a ATF cooler and use good quality ATF oils.

haha just saying  hehehe

yeah very true i also last time had an auto putra but i was worried to change any of the exhaust setup coz my buddies who change their auto car t straight flow or sflow all suffered some loss in acceleration
i suprisingly found the stock exhaust setup the best in terms of acceleration
but overtaking is :banghead::banghead::banghead:

dont forget the +/- autos.. can also play with gears but it still has a 'brain' of its own.. heheh

Oh yeah about these kind of gearbox... Actually it is very much auto. Just that they make u feel more involved. The whole process and mechanism is auto anyways... It has a torque converter and an auto gearbox. Still cannot hide that laggy feeling and thirsty FC. I tested this on my friend's 03' BMW 320i. Same rubber band effect and weaker pickup.

Driving this type of gearbox, I feel like... A kid, trying to help mum do housework. She comes and do it with me to encourage me. But actually she is doing 99% of the job =.=

Hmm wad i tink is... city drive, auto best! Its not for racing purposes ama...
Overtaking use O/D function is enuf also larh...

Highway or track use, manual use!
But if wanna play track, buy a car for fully-track use la... roads arent racetrack ya noe?

Jz my opinion...

I have manuals, auto and paddle shift at home but still manual is the best to exercise your left leg. AT is also nice to drive especially with the newer CVT transmission. Paddle shift is in the middle but 1 thing though...if you put your aircond vents blowing towards you and soon you won't feel your fingers anymore....it's like numb already....Hahahahaha

So those who want to pick a fight with guys that is used to driving with really hard racing clutch beware....their left leg can keep your balls out...Hehehehe
