I'm driving a Proton Wira 1.5(A) 2001. My car is having problem with the engine timing everytime my aircond is on. It was 750rpm without aircond and with aircond it's around 350rpm, which cause my car to tremble greatly when I'm driving 'D' during traffic jam. Currently , I have tweak myself the RPM to 1,000rpm without aircond and 500rpm with aircond. The car still trembles a little with timing coming to as low as 400rpm during idling in traffic jam. I notice that even I manually tweak it to higher rpm, it seems it only works well without aircond. With aircond there is a BIG gap in engine timing, sometimes at 1,200 rpm(without aircond) to 400 rpm(with aircond).

Pls help me!!!

To Skywalker,

2001 model. I think should be fuel injection. I tweak manually but the rpm is very unstable. The screw there is called FICD?

To Yong 5290,

My engine has no tune up or mod. Just standard wira 1.5(A) 2001.

FICD is a device to control your idling when your air-con is on..therefore it helps to maintain idling even with/without aircon...let's say your RPM without air-con 1000rpm, with FICD, u can set your RPM wit aircon at 1000rpm too..

the one u mentioned is the throtle body....try go google or somewer around tis forum type FICD and look for it..

i had d same prob wif u. just service my tb today. found out tht 1 of d part inside oredi broke. so just clean n fix d plastic thing back. just for temporary use. otw home, bought d tb repair kit. rm20 oni. now d idle is a bit high bcoz d plastic limiter broke. will find time fix it back.

as for u, i suggest u 2 service ur tb 1st. ficd might work, but if u want it for a long run, then its hard 2 guarentee. d best method 4 long run is to buy a new tb. ficd is another option, 90% cases works. but for me, i rather repair d tb. just sharing my 2cents

To Skywalker,

I have just changed my TB in August 2008 for RM380 from proton SC. The problem came back in Jan 2009. Just clean the whole TB before CNY 2009. If changing the TB every 5 months to solve my prob, I think I better sell off my RM18K car.

I think my last option is getting the FICD. But I got noone to install for me even if I can get the parts.

hurm..normally real stock engine won't face this kind of problem..unless engine has been transplanted or modified..

since u don have anyone to install for u, i think u can just go some car shop and ask for the installation...or maybe your trusted workshop? u can go to my workshop if u want to...decision is yours...

check the throttle body~ you might be very surprised once your mech opens it up for you. Once I found the innards in bits and pieces~ had to change those blardy plastic parts.
