2008 Toyota New AE86

behold!!! the new version of mini-compact sport car by toyota...look like a blend between a toyota soarer and a celica..hope it can continues the AE86 ability....come us all get the Blitz supercharger for this car....cant wait to get one next year..no matter what!!! cant get or buy the AE86..but we all can get this one definately!!!

looks damn cun...but sayang they only using 1.5 liter engine....should put in a 1.6 engine with at least 140-160bhp...tat will be nice.....

hopefully they will planned with a rear-wheel version 0f 1ZZ-FE or other similiar capacities engine for this car...maybe a new version of 20V hehe with advance VVT system:biggrin:

the pix are of course fakes. It is only meant for illustration of how it 'could' look like. These mags always speculate on how the car would look like based on information they manage to catch hold too. The final production car would not look like this but it at least gives us the basic idea. And if u guys remember, the japs mag often get quite close to the real thing. Remember the evos and subarus and the honda crv?

Good thing they bringing back affordable fun cars.

Although it might look impressive on paper for a 1.5 litre engine to push out 120 horses for a family sedan, the same couldnt be said when its meant for performance. Especially now since, the 80's AE86 rivals, Civic is now on another level with it's 2.0 vtec engine and the other iconic affordable fun car, the mx-5 is 2.0 giving out around 170 horses.

the new design is just too new for the legend. comparing the latest mustang design with their old ones, the feels are still there. but i jus couldnt see the nostalgic touch here on 'hachi roku'...

agree..

too bad, technology and safety requirements nowdays dont allow pop up lights..

i forgot where i've read em from...
mags probably, it's bout pedestrians safety, incase they got hit by one with the pop ups protruding from the car body..

try googling around, im sure u'll find the source.

hey, the concept in the pics look quite okay to me, quite modern!

New reports have emerged from Japan confirming that Toyota is working on a new low cost sports car scheduled to go on sale before the end of the decade and priced around two million yen (US$16,780). Toyota will build the car with help from Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru’s parent company), who the Asahi newspaper reports will be providing one of its trademark boxer engines.
Toyota bought a small 8.7% stake in Fuji back in 2005 and has since supplied it with small cars built by its Daihatsu subsidiary. This new project will see Fuji return the favor with the supply of a 2.0L horizontally opposed engine, which was chosen because of its lower center of gravity, low cost and smoothness.
Earlier reports gave some vital details about the car including its size, which is expected to be under 4m in length and 1.7m across. Final output is said to be around 120hp in a body that’ll tip the scales at just 1,000kg. The new model would be a spiritual successor to the AE86 , which was immortalized in the anime series Initial D.
Subaru fans were initially disappointed that Toyota’s involvement would make the company boring but it looks like the opposite will be true. Considering the Toyota group has no pure sports car, this would be a good entry level model to spur more interest in the brand.
