Hi guys,

Just wondering many people said that use piggyback like E-Manage & SAFC is not functioning on BT20V & some said YES & it's functioning when install E-Manage & SAFC into BT20V but in certain time, setting will be back to stock ECU...

Which mean is there any difference by installing E-Manage or SAFC into BT20V engine? Is it true that after dyno/tuning the Emanage, after somewhile the setting will be back to stock ECU

CONFUSED.........:banghead:

Yes.. i always functioning... Even stock engine too but just the amount increase HP are rather can ignore it...
If really want to go for piggyback, I would like to suggest to use at least the E-Manage, and Unichip Q. Because my previous experience, SAFC 1 + stock BT = increase 3-4 WHP. :listen:

So being said that E-Manage did function well in stock BT20V engine & after dyno/ tuning, the setting will be remain & setting will not back to stock factory ECU setting. Am I right bro TRD?

use for e-manage for 2-3 year previously, no problem...never go back to stock ecu setting.

i just depend on my feeling...with my 264 cam, my factory setting and piggyback setting will be big different feeling..eheheh

How to confirm this, maybe we should dyno back after 2 weeks

Kinda agreed with bro cuscostrutbrace. I think to confirm it, we should dyno again after 1 month maybe...Haha......

Below is the comment from our big bro. as this link http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/toyota/298941-need-advice-e-manage-on-blacktop-20v.html

caleb_5375,

tat is true bro..the setting will goes bak to stock mapping..basic harness won't work on it.
E-manage,safc,vafc falls on the same group which mean they are good for small altering in the mapping.major mod wont work well with e-manage. coz e-mange cheat the signal from the sensor to the ecu. if major altering in mapping is done ur engine check light might light out. at a certain limit ur ECU will go hair wire on ur mapping and there goes ur blow engine.
no offence with those which use e-mange on their 4age.

So kind of scary to invest on Emanage as what if the setting is back to stock mapping? worthless.....

Confusion again.... :banghead:

For E-manage blue, basically I think the only setting that "might" revert back could be the airflow setting during closed loop (cruising) mode. Besides, tuning airflow doesn't actually increase the power output, rather making it a little smoother only. As mentioned on previous threads, ignition tuning is the key to making more power. The last I recalled, ignition timing tuning via E-manage Blue on 20V doesn't revert back, regardless how long it has be last tuned. So basically, if you are running with only basic harness (airflow tuning only), chances are the ECU will try to revert back to original setting. If you have ignition and injector harness, there's no way the ECU can revert back. However, if the tuning was seriously messed up (as in massive knocking), the ECU will try to adjust the timing until knocking is minimized, but only up to a certain limit.

So the bottom line is if your piggyback is only capable of tuning the airflow, chances are the ECU will revert back to its original setting. However, I still believe that in open loop the piggyback should be able to take control of the airfuel mapping, which is where it matters the most.

Edit: Come to think of it, why is the thread starter keep opening up new threads for the same topic again?

Bro pcmoddingmy,

So cut it short means if want to invest in E-Manage, we should install the ignition & injector harness as well in order the stock ECU to revert back to it's original setting. Right bro?

Sil80-13, yup right. The ECU cant revert the ignition and injector settings, which is where the power is made. As mentioned earlier, basic airflow harness doesn't improve much power.

Thanks alot bro pcmoddingmy. You had given me a very good details. :adore::adore::adore:

Yes... you are right... unless you remove the battery (for emanage & if not mistaken)

Another option is Unichip, it better than emanage

Bro TRD,

Means once remove the battery or battery spoil & replace a new one, all settings will be gone & need to send for dyno/tuning again for Emanage

Is it confirmed?

I not so sure, but my bro always face that problem. Remove the battery , the setting inside was gone.
But sometime it not reset...

Ok. I will try ask JC Racing advice & ask them about this.
