Hi everyone,

I am new here. Just joined from australia, perth. Wanted to know if I can import a 300ZX TT engine 94/95 model from KL. Need some info and honest opinion. It is really difficult to find a good one in australia. Since KL is closer to perth it will be lot cheaper to ship. Looked at some option to get them from japan but shipping is killer, also they don't speak english so very difficult to communicate. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I can source a whole car for 4k but I am looking for a good engine may be 94/95 model which is difficult to source one. Will try japan or canda. They have few for sale then once my engine is out may start thinking of rebuild.

bro i think its better to go with a rebuild ....at least u know all the stuff ur putting in is brand new and nothing to worry about compare to getting a used engine

there are many wreckers in malaysia that export stuffs overseas.
this is one of the most famous in malaysia and they do exports. maybe you can contact them.

Totally agree with Rajie...

Rebuild is the best as you know what you're putting in. Trust me... a used engine is an enigma until you open it up (then you might as well rebuild it anyway). I've had 2 engines... the most reliable one (and the one I'm using now) is the rebuilt engine. Everything working good.

If you are doing a rebuild, I recommend buying a rebuild kit. From the US it would cost around US$3000+ excellent kit with piston, rods, gasket... everything!! I wish I bought that one when I did my rebuild.

Yes that is where I am heading and trying to save 7-8k for rebuild. Wish there were some step by step guide book for rebuild so that start stripping out the engine by myself.

just now i raced with my friend skyline R33 with Rb25 and i whooop him .....but pick up the skyline was a bit better as the 300zx body is heavier compared to the skyline ....but once pass 40kmh the skyline was behind ....

How much do you have to pay for the engine?

Don't forget to put pics up of your transplant!

Just a thought... do you have to reprogram the ECU to handle the aussie fuel?

thanks mate. knew the link already. need more in details. i am not a mechanic in trade so bit difficult. but bought a race vg30dett rebuilt engine last night from japan. very happy. 600 hp. can't wait to put in.

The engine is a rebuilt 3.1 L with 12 injectors
Forged Pistons Trust Greddy 89mm bore
Connecting Rod Trust Greddy H-beam
Cam shaft JUN 264 degree

yes need to retune the engine and nedd f-con or piggyback computer to run 12 injectors and two fuel pump. planning for 600 hp. looking for suitable turbos.

Mazranz, your engine was rebuild using all OEM part?
Love to know where you done that since I still searching for good Z32 & learning about it......(& still thinking how to park it at home...too much bikes, cars,& animals already...:( )

Yeah, mostly I think ;) They didn't get aftermarket parts, except for hoses. I also had the turbos rebuilt/serviced.

Engine quite good now... still have yet to take it to the dyno to see what's it putting out.

But need to sort out that fuel guzzling thing (it's worse than last time). So maybe an ECU remap is in order.

What are you driving now?

hi kevin,

good to know. but just bought a rebuilt engine from japan 600hp +
now looking for new turbos. they are bloody expensive and i need two.

do you have any compression test results for both engines? also what is the price range you are after. you can pm me if you want. there are other people who are trying to get decent engine.
tell me more about the rebuilt engine. details, km ran, parts detail used for rebuilt bla bla. i will be visiting KL in mid december and can speak to you personally and can have a look your engine. shipping will be killler though.

good to know there are other options...

HI Mazranz,

I am currently running 0.8 bar boost on my 300zx with fully stock rebuilt engine and turbos pushing 350WPH running a unichip piggyback ECU. I am getting approx 340km per full tank. i have tried leaning the fuel running about 12.5 a/r (air fuel ratio) and it was yealding about the same milage so i though must as well run richer (13.5a/r) to be on the safe side and get the same 340km per full tank. I dont know of any other way to get more milage la bro.

Just make sure all your hoses are tight.

Kabir,

Give me a holler when you make it back to kl.. I have rebuilt my entire engine on ori nissan parts. no special mods... just a slightly ported head and stonger turbo bushings and larger shaft inserts for the turbo shaft.

Our stock turbines if in good shape can take up to 1.5bar of boost and out engine fully stock is good for 500 crank hp. anything under that we dont have to worry about anything.

Mazranz,

to come to think of it i have an extra complete Unichip set for the Z if you are interested. it includes the unichip, turbo module and boost solonoid. all you have to do is to install and tune at Puchong. Installation and tune will cost you about RM600 and unichip set i would like to sell for RM1200... you can run multiple maps with the unichip as well as launch control and antilag.

call me if you are interested 016 230 4888

Hi Kevin,

Where exactly in Puchong do you tune the Z32 ?
Btw, if you are free this Sunday, drive down to PJ for the Raya Open House at Nasi Lemak Cikgu. We plan to meetup at Shell station in 1Utama/TV3 @ 11am. Sure love to see your 300zx !!
