I don't like the "feel" and "sensation" derived from CVTs. Floor it and it goes to peak torque and it stays there and the engine just drones. My CVT experience limited to the current gen Honda City, Proton Suprima and Proton Inspira.

Automatics like the ZF 8 speed is just godlike, engagement like DSG is exhilarating. I don't understand the need for CVT's existence.
They arent built for engagement.
In some cars i think it makes the fc worst such as the preve and suprima.
They are not the future for sure as modern turbo engine are producing high twisting force which is not good for the cvt belt.

Normal autobox with more gears are the future. There are rumors that Proton is testing 5 speed autobox on the iriz. That will make me consider the iriz for future naughty car.

I think I read that for torque converters, 10 speed is the optimal ratio. More than that actually holds no benefits.
Even if non-turbo engines, the advanced NA engines by Mazda don't use CVT, still a conventional torque converter.

5 speed autobox is.. er, outdated? I think minimum should be 6 speed. That Mazda gearbox is quite fast, but not as fast as the ZF 8. Of course one is a FWD and the other is RWD. But boy, I'll choose the ZF 8 anyday over any gearbox. It is smooth when you want to cruise, and its fast as hell when you want to floor it.

DSG is clunky at low cruising speeds, although it is fast when floored. So ZF 8 is like best of both worlds.

Nothing that you can't fix easily with adding a cheap throttle controller. I also install one on my Mark x.
There's no need for a throttle controller as the SI-Drive is like an enhance throttle controller due to it's the ability to control other variables such as the artificial gear ratio in the CVT models.

Yea, common problem for the V10... Thankfully no major issues for now but am planning to rebuild my block soon . You own a scooby too?

yup...classic gen.. no drive bai wayar no headache electronic... hahaha..and manual...

the SI drive change not only throttle mapping but engine mapping as well...(including boost target) thats why only on sport# mode can go higher boost....

the v10 2.0 sti even up to 1.6bar of boost in that mode if not mistaken.... for 2.5 is around 1.3bar? or 1.5 bar?

This is it...my 1997 Honda EX5 High Power 1997
I got this bike used in 2004 before I go to Sabah and even bring it there.
It was bone stock back then and now with added acc for convenience.
Everything is from factory...the paint, absorber, everything except the sport rim and rear box.
<a href="http://s280.photobucket.com/user/gunnerzz_8094/media/Side Right.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk167/gunnerzz_8094/Side Right.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Side Right.jpg"/></a>

Nothing to shout about...its 'just' an EX5 High Power. Its uncomfortable and not fast but will get you anywhere. Superb town commuter. Everything in the engine is stock. The carb is also stock with stock jetting.

How far it has travelled without any breakdown...except for punctured. Engine had never been rebuild just replace the gasket. I practice changing the engine oil every month as I will ride 80% from the limit on weekdays. Engine oil used is either Castrol or Shell. This bike will reach 100kmh on the speedo.

Seeing this engine cover alone will make some mech offer me to buy the bike. Its not nice as I mentioned earlier its ori since 1997.

Fuel tank is under the seat. I will let it run until the gauge is below the big red bar and fill up Rm6. The ori tool is missing..too bad.

1st 2 million unit sticker....faded but its true, that's how much they sell this thing.

Lighting and reflector...Stanley for front. The front headlight is using Osram Silverstar. Its brighter and more focus. Rear is AAP lens with Stanley bulb.

Givi Wildcat 25 box mounted on Kappa J-rack. Its used to carry my rain gear. Told u guys I ride everyday to work right...that means be it rain or shine. My helmet will be locked at my bike or left at the guardhouse. Nobody brave enough to steal security manager helmet eh?
Givi box is good but the cylinder lock is lousy. It will become stuck and hard to turn.

The rims is just normal rim and normal tire used. I ride this daily and after 4 years I encounter a puncture.
Not bad eh. I will continue riding as long as I can as its convenient and quick.

This is super true.
I only used bike to commute to work and go to speedmart. If i go to speedmart i will park and survey the surrounding to see if there is anyone not suppose to be there. If satisfy only i will went in.

If i stopped by any shop on the way to work i will make sure i can see my bike from where i am sitting. Those people sitting alone at the table nearest to the roadside and sat facing the road are riders observing their rides...hahaha.
If mamak shop then its better as go off from bike and straightaway sit down.

Last time when i'm still smoking, i even finishes 1 stick of cigarette while still on the bike just to be sure its safe to park. That time i went to giant. When i went in it was a grab and go situation..no window shopping. Now i know where 7e got the name for their bread range...its specifically made for riders with valuable bikes..'Grab n Go'.

Porsche 1999, Carrera 996 NA 3.6L Boxer auto.

City driving 8-9km/L and highway can get easily 13/14km/L

RON97 only. :P
13/14km/l on highway? Hebat..... I can only get 10-13km/l from (loaner car also) 996 & 997 (probably driving too fast :P).

BTW 911s are actually a good car for daily (in the high-end sportscars segment).

Oh, I really didn’t know the SI drive changed the engine mapping as I couldn’t find any information online. Maybe I should just read my owner’s manual. Haha. I think it’s around 1.3.. spiking at 1.5 bar.

Hard to control speed with a car like the 996/997... but if you do it does pretty amazing MPG.
