Latest update : I'm stressed out over the poor wiring. The crank sensor wire had melted to some degree and the wires were barely touching. This resulted in poor cranking and difficult to start.

So I'm taking this opportunity to redo some of the wiring to high temp wiring and swap out the injectors to top feed injectors, meaning i'll need to mod top mounted fuel rail. More modern injectors make them easier to control and work finer. 800cc Bosch injectors.

Must be frustrating. I know how you feel.

it went through some cheap diy wiring ka

Whoever did the conversion either used a half-assed any-how-just-get-it-working mech or was on a super ridiculously cheap budget.

Sounds almost like you should have bought a stock one, buy a half cut, and direct the conversion.

Still cheaper to fix the one I have now. I can't afford 20k on an engine conversion and I don't know anyone who can do that with a good wiring setup.

More likely not cheap but still half assed.

Sigh.. half assed.

I was wondering about these conversion jobs. These engines are quite old. Do the mechanics just take the wiring loom from the half cut and install without inspection? Or do they use those looms as reference and replace all the wires with new ones?

Hope the new ones are for automotive engine, because those must be able to withstand the heat in the engine compartment....:driver:

one of the cause wiring melt is not tighten properly. It loose n cause sparks eventually melt n core turn brittle.

As usual, most we must assume that mechs will always take the easy way..

Cheaper? Honestly I don’t think so... if you factor in the grief and time wasted. I frankly rather pay more if it’s done right.
