Charity Event!

Hey guys,
We are joining a joint interclub charity event for an orphanage in Klang. The orphanage is in badly need of a van to ferry the kids to and fro school, We checked on purchasing a used van which last checked on Mudah.com is roughly 20k for a fairly good condition Toyota Hiace. So we are putting up an idea of an Inter Car Club Event where car clubs gather as much contributions as possible from their members for the sake of Charity. If some of you guys has found any good condition van pls let us know.

The idea is each participating Car club will collect as much as possible say with the given timeframe of end of Jan, 2011. All car clubs will present their collections direct to the orphanage individually but the total collected amount from all Car clubs will be totalled up and maybe a mock cheque or the physical vehicle presented to the Orphanage. The van can be decorated with the participating logos of the car clubs....haha. and we can also put the Alfa, Mitsu and BM logos on the van.

It would probably the first for an Inter Car club charity event. We all convoy to the orphanage and handover the van.

I think its good if we can get more information on this orphanage - like name of the place, target amount(i guess RM20K?), location of orphanage, how many residents etc.

This will help us to solicit donation from friends / families.

This was a small write up done by BMWCM from their last visit...

Dear all,

Imagine your father comes home drunk every night. He takes it out on your mother. He is not interested in you or the family. All he looks forward to is his next fix. As a 3 year old, you are oblivious to what is going on, but it has been a whole day since you last had something to eat or drink. You are hungry and thirsty. You look around for your mother but she is nowhere to be found. What you don’t know is that after the last beating, your mother decided to walk out. She cannot take your father’s beatings any longer and she fears for her life.

Founded in January 1999 by Albert Ong and YM, a former pastor and his wife, Good Samaritan Home (GSH) cares for children such as these—who come from families where parents have abandoned them, or where a parent is unable to cope with divorce, or where the child has lost one or both parents. GSH today is home to 34 children, whose age range from 3—17 years old. The home seeks not only to provide for their physical and material needs, but also to minister to their emotional and psychological needs especially in the light of their broken family backgrounds.

The home is located at No. 2, Lebuh Jelutong, Taman Southern Park, 41200 Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia.

A recent visit during Christmas 2010 to the home has helped us learned that the home needs a van to ferry the kids to school.

We are starting a contribution drive to hopefully collect RM20k to buy them a decent pre-owned van to take them to and fro from school plus to use it for outings.

Let us pool in our resources for this good cause and bring more big smiles from the children.

State Heads,
pls start the collection by this week and keep me inform weekly by sms. due to i will have to add up with other clubs and start hunting for the van that is in our budget..

I will organise tt sessions in KL weekly for collections for this event.

Event dates is yet to be confirm but it will be after chinese new year.
