Hi mates,

WHat engine oil? I personally use castrol 10-30 what do you guys use? I was wondering if anyhere is using synthetic successfully?

Ah Pang told me, a lot of ppl just use Mineral Oil for their Rotary engines,
but changes the engine oil regularly (2000-3000km).

that is true...that's about the CHEAPEST maintainence part for rotary...

not forgetting the roadtax.

Mazda always said you should use mineral oil only! However this recommendation was way back when synthetic oils were at their infancy and have since come a long way today. I regularly use Mobil S semi-synthetic since rebuild with no problems. I find it smoother than just mineral. The big deal is whether the synthetic burns clean or not but this is not to say that mineral oils burn clean!

If you really want to get excited about this you can blow big $$$ on the cleanest burning oil on the market which is Amsoil or Redline! This is from an "independent" test done on Aus.

thanks glen,

i've been using castrol 10-30w after the transplant. You reckon switching over now to semi syn would pose a problem? Also wondering bout the workshop you were at the last time we met in old klang road, do you rent their bays? I'm looking to get lubes changed. TIA
