Apparently Porsche is close to making a final decision on whether to add a sedan to its portfolio. A lot of info has already been released on this vehicle, including its name, Panamera, which was registered by Porsche at the same time it registered the Cayman name. Earlier reports had the sedan appearing in 2009, but that date seems to have been moved up to 2008. No official word has come yet either on whether or not Porsche will work with VW again in the same manner it did with the Cayenne. Engines are expected to be based on the same 4.5L V8 motors found in the Cayenne and include naturally aspirated and turbo variants. If the Panamera does get approved, we can’t wait to see a head-to-head comparo against the MB CLS500.

another merc s-class priced sedan car... :D

and im sure they use boxster engine.. err... that porsche SUV use what engine aaa?

design same like the previous ones... jz that they added another 2 doors to become 4door saloon...

porsche has the laziest team designers... we jz can hardly differentiate old and new models... except if u are hardcore porsche supporter lo...

eih? suicide doors ka the rear? :D

the red one normal door handles. the silver pic door handles close together... which pic is real? heheeh kidding. they could both be concepts, but still... photoshop possibility. the silver pic's tail lamps look too much like the V10 carrera GT concept

Expect to see the new Porsche Panamera in the flesh this September at Frankfurt. It definitely seems like the new four door Porsche is going to be a reality very soon. Sources inside Porsche also indicate that the new car will be developed and built by Porsche with component suppliers contributing where necessary. This is different than their approach with the Cayenne, which was developed with VW. The Cayenne is partially built by VW before being shipped to Porsche’s Leipzig factory for completion. With the success of the Mercedes CLS, you can be sure this particular car will garner a lots of fans.

Damn sien lar...all the same headlights and rear lights. I mean, sure there's a company's design language but look at how other manufacturers integrate it nicely into all their models and make them look different! Boxter looks like a mini Carrera! Cayenne is a Carrera with 4 doors, monster wheels and a ugly bumper. My most fave porsche is the front engined rear wheel drive one. Now that looks classy yet different!

Turns out that Porsche Panamera predecessor (AW, Aug. 8)—the early ‘90s Porsche four-door prototype dubbed 989—wasn’t as secret as we were led to believe. Though Porsche officials initially told AutoWeek the car was never shown publicly, was never photographed and was crushed when production plans didn’t materialize, we’ve since learned the car was photographed by at least one German magazine (though Porsche says it never released official photos and a press release) and the car wasn’t destroyed back in 1991 as thought, but remains under wraps somewhere in the Porsche empire. Also, though the Panamera due in 2008 will be a front-engine four-door, the 989 that spawned many of later 911 suspension and styling improvements was likely a rear-engine, 911-based one-off.
