Just wondering is it possible to turbocharge a VVTI engine assuming only a small turbo pressure is required (0.3 bar)? What about the ECU ? What will happen to the VVT mechanism?
I'm pretty sure I can put in a turbo but all of them changes the ECU. The thailand vios is using turbo developed by TRD and involves replacing the whole ECU.
I was just wondering whether our local turbo specialist would be able to install turbo on a VVTI engine. So far I've heard of none who has done it before.
i jus read from a megazine somewhere that the thais TOYOTA DEALER even gif' an optional to choose either the normal vios or the turbo version...
i thot' the normal plp modified it, shock to hear that the TOYOTA'S developed it for the thai market..
haf' anybody read about it?
so i think it is very2 possible.. its the same with the normal gti with bolt on turbocharged boosting at 0.4br..
of coz its possible and it'll be more cost efficient to get the turbo straight when u buy the car from TOYOTA (thailand)
at least you're not paying for 2 ECUs
I know it is possible to turbocharge it but so far I only seen it being turbocharged by TRD(Toyota Racing Development). What I'm asking is whether our local turbo experts (Turbo tong maybe?)are able to turbocharge a VVTI engine because so far I've seen all turbocharge and supercharge by TRD and requires ECU change. Also these turbos from TRD are very very expensive, 2-3 X more than normal.
well u can get ONLY TRD's ECU...
or get a full ECU which will cost you a bomb
the rest of the items like turbo, piping, manifold, intercooler don't need TRD's right?
btw tong turbo only does turbo and nuthin else.
Here's the pics of our Last 2 week Sunday convoy to the Special Invitation for MLOC @ Texas Revolution Oil Launching Party in Sri Hartamas. We all had great time.
hi all.. im planning to get an FC soon and would like to knoe how much would it cost for a complete engine rebuild? lets say its a fairly good engine and i dont want to use any "might be able to stand another 2...
