Although the Pagani Zonda never really came from a solid, well-established supercar background, it pretty much did not need to. Ever since its debut back in 1999, the magnificently-styled Zonda took the world by storm, immediately taking spotlight as one of the finely-crafted yet packed with a punishing performance supercar. So when the Zonda’s production was ended in 2011, it had left a deep gash in its admirer’s hearts. Parting from this non-sensible, ear-shattering banshee was just not that easy.

But Horacio Pagani, with the success of the Zonda, definitely would not stop there. Not long after the departure of the Zonda, a new successor steps in, simply known as the Huayra (pronounced “why-ra”), and it immediately raised some eyebrows. While some call it elegant and stunning, mostly thought it was not as “flashy” or “absurd” as the Zonda, where those were the characteristics that made the Zonda pop out from the others. But basically, that was the point.

While the Zonda was developed to carry a racecar character, the Huayra on the other hand, was “inspired by the fascination of flight, by the elements of air and wind”, said Horacio Pagani himself.
This short yet interesting documentary from Pagani Automobili pretty much sums up what they they are trying to convey with the Huayra’s unique design, sticking up to their concept of where “art and science are disciplines that must walk together hand-in-hand”.
