Does anyone watch the movie yet???

I watched it today, the official release date.
And to be frank, I prefer to read the book than to watch the movie.
The movie deviated too much from the book.
For example:
(1) the Smart car they use should be red instead of white
(2) they should drive into the Zurich bank not walk in
(3) Sophie never met with any drug addict and give him money
(4) Where are those sport cars in Teabing's resident that is mention in the novel???
(5) Remy should be poison to dead in the car by Teabing not in a deserted place
(6) There should be 2 cryptex not one
(7) Robert and Sophie should be trick by Teabing to the Chapter House not being directed by Teabing himself with a gun to the Chapter House
(8) Silas should die in the hospital not being shot dead by policemen outside Opus Dei
(9) Robert and Sophie never found any basement in the Roslin in the novel but they did in the movie

My own rating to the movie: 3 and 1/2 stars out of 5 stars

You all can voice out your comment on the movie also.
 
Some of those deviations that you noted aren't really important. Those are just minor details ie. 1) 2) 3) 4).

5) 6) 7) 8) and 9) are arguable. Depends on how the director weaves the story. Some could make changes work, some couldn't. I haven't watch so I don't know yet.
 
silverfish, I know (1 to 4) are minor daviations but since this is a car network, I must try to mention something about cars what (1) and (4)... hahaha...
About (2), they change the story line. In the book, they must pass thru two security checks not one like in the movie. The security of the Zurich Bank in the novel is much more tighter than in the movie. And the way Dan Brown wrote the situation when Robert and Sophie enters the bank with the taxi is very thrilling. Just wasted this part.
About (3), just to say that this scene is an extra in the movie. Never read about this in the novel.:_:

actually,i expect them to actually shorten the part where robert is still at the lourve,coz daniel bro as u know,in the book it is quite lengthy but nevertheless very nice.My opinion is,can't say it deviate but modified abit to cater viewer that never read his book b4,heck it is quite long also the movie.I actually felt abit of sleepy,just imagine the director put in all the details from the book,man 4hour++ show i guess.

Somehow i feel that the movie just lack of the excitement and the thrill compare to reading the book.For normal viewer,i honestly admit it is quite hard to understand and boring(lagi they havent read his book b4). I feel like bulat bulat from the book,but altered some of it to suit the whole movie length.

But they should show

1)how fache know that teabing is the person behind all this,rmb the spy room thingy at teabing house operated by remy after the police seize his house?
2)the zurich bank part,yeah where is the suspend!!?
3)their journey at UK,there is alot more man,not just straight away found out is issac newton thomb and the library part become gprs mobile phone search(this i can't accept)
4) agree with daniel bro,they are not lead by teabing!not that fast!
5)can't rmb well,but there is some difference when they are at the rosslyn chapel..i rmb there is a small house or something beside the church,another character(forgot who,someone close to sophie) that reveal the truth and if i am nto mistaken,no family chart

but can't blame the director,if he put in everything,the movie will be too long to show or maybe is the director ability that makes the difference?

Anyway i give it a B rating

Angels and deamon the movie? arrr i hope they try with digital fortress.

escaflowne, I agree with you that the movie had lost the thrill and excitement of the novel because of those modification done to the movie. And I'm sure for those who haven read the novel will had a hard time understanding the movie. The movie lose out much of those small but important detail that will make you understand the story and also the thrill. For example, they lose out the part where there is an extra arm holding a dagger in 'The Last Supper'. This will make you feel more mysterious. How can they simply take out those same details?!

escaflowne, I must futher agree with your points:
(1) yeah, where is the high tech machine that is being used by Teabing to track Robert and Sophie and also to contact Silas that is being hidden in the loft
(2) the zurich bank part, seems easy and fast compare to the novel
(3) This is definately a rush job! How can they jump almost the whole journey of Robert and Sophie in England? And somehow, a big library will turn into a gprs phone?!
(5) yes, there is a small little hut beside the Roslin chapel and the man that is working as the tour guide in the Roslin was Sophie long lost brother.

There are lots of the scenes from the novel that are not reveal in the movie. Somehow I felt so dissapointed with the movie.

But I don't think they will produce the Digital Fortress, Angels and Demons and also Deception Point movie. They only produce Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code because it's the best!
 
yeah,read all of his collection.But you can spot dan brown's pattern after reading 1 or 2 of his book,easily guess who is the culprit behind etc

Scene that miss out and i guess it actually makes ppl can't understand the movie without reading the book b4 that is
1)No explanation on the internal conflict between captain fache and his assistant(forgot his name),and captain fache behavior as a police and why they said he is a cow at france.
2)No explanation about the bank manager that took them off from zurich bank and then wanna take away the keystone.It is like,y suddenly the bank manager wanna take it away and wanna shoot them.
3)No explanation of why and how captain fache suddenly know who is the main culprit behind all this and who is the real killer.
 
escaflowne, I'm sure that those that did not read the novel will definately puzzled about the 3 points you mentioned, especially point (2). Fache's assistant is Lieutenant Collet. And it turns out that Fache is not that cow as stated in the novel.
Bout point (2), the bank manager should has another role when the movie is approaching the end that is to unveil that he wanted to protect the box as he is the best friend of Sophie's grandfather. The movie also did not mention about the bank manager, Andre, is the best friend of Jacques.
 
agreed. those who did not read the novel will definitely be lost. A lot of explanation has been shorten or just briefly mentioned especially on the works of da vinci, his antics of mocking christianity in his paintings, the explanation of sacred feminine. i found it pretty enjoyable, although it didnt really follow the book to the T. But if you consider most movie adaptations from books, you will find that for 95% of the film actually follows the book barring some miscellaneous details. Compared to LOTR, the movie was so darn different from the books that its almost appalling to watch.

my guess is ron howard left out or change some major details mainly to shorten the movie duration which was already close to 3 hours and also for to avoid further confrontation from christians.
 
went for tis movie today..
before tat feel like not interestin at all...
but after watched... reli look different...
vry nice movie...
 
Apart from the visual similarity in the movie as to compared from the book, did anyone else get overly intrigued by the history itself... I found it factual to a certain extend...

Must admit tho'..... after reading the book, the movie was a little dissapointing. But watching Audrey tatou play her part was good enough watching for me..
