Hi guys...
Anyone familiar with all the procedures for student AP?
I will be going over to Aust to study :)
So would like to gather some info on student AP...how it works and all :)
How long to own a car...Tax...Ship...EVERYTHING :P

1) own car at least 9 months before coming back to malaysia
2) contact your area MSD office for more details and for interview
3) Check out www.miti.gov.my for details too.
4) Have to bring proof of stay (visa/passport), proof of ownership (grant) and proof of completed studies/work.
5) I think there is a small processing fee. that's it.
6) Once u get the JK69 form approved, u can ship your car to malaysia.
7) Once reach Port Klang, you have to go nego with Customs on tax. There are various ways to go about this. Absolutely no hanky panky needed. it's all in the talking and compromises. :)

thx topui :)
know how much issit to ship a car back to malaysia???

know how does the tax procedure work???with the custom i mean

heard someone mention tat you can backdate how long u own a car...so even if its justa month old u can claim its 9 or something like tat...

thanks for all ur help :)

from experience, haiyaa hard to remember-lah, been 5 yrs already....buy the car during your final year so that u'll at least a year of ownership, try not to do any mega touch-ups for the car, car will be in sad condition with dust here and there, merc got scratched getting here, dust etc.....getting to the msd office is also important.....why not wait till u get there, your seniors (or msia student soc) can point u to certain people. When i was in the uk, just met some kind of runner, handled the sales + shipping at a reasonable price. These runners also have runners back here for any assistance, came back to msia, phoned the dude, dude phoned back on eta, breeze from there....important for custom/registration purposes, no lengthy waits, u know what i mean (tax break wink wink) :)

hey aiks
i m studyin in melb ~
plan to bring back a car but not too sure with procedure!~
do u have any idea?

Not sure but here's what my company do in order to import stuff...

First, get those JK69 form. You can buy them at the dunno what Pecetakan Malaysia in Jalan Chan Sow Lin (60cent per copy if i remember correctly). Fill up the form along with photocopy of relevant documents (in my case its my customer PO, I guess in your case, mayb car purchase agreement or something like that, just go n ask MITI). Wait till it approve.. MITI is in Jalan Duta there.. . same area where u pay tax.. Only after you got AP, then only can ship it probably via a container (cost a few K, just remember to buy insurance just in case)... when it arrive here... then get the bill of lading (in my case I got it from my bank coz i borrow money to buy. In your case, mayb get it staight from shipping company. Again dont b shy to ask). Then only you goto Kastam see how much they wanna tax u... I believe Kastam doesnt accept personal or company cheque... only bank draft (and mayb cash, not sure)...

Hope it helps...

mean the first time is after finish undergraduate , then back to oversea to continue master or work. can we apply AP?

do you need to be graduated first?

Or just show that you own the car overseas more than 9 months.
and proof of stay etc?
