ST 150 & AT 151 Corona

Last month i see one 3s halfcut at one of 4 chop shop area Semambu, but i forget name of the shop. sorry bro. I think not Shimoji or CS chop shop. I agreed with bro yau. 3sgte is 4wd. The best gearbox to make it 2wd is from mr2. But same part from this gearbox can not match because this is a FR engine. And it's not easy to "matikan" this gear box like VR4 engine. So u must find the st170 gearbox. Put the super charger engine from the ae101 also the best choice too.

Bump: i think the shop name is Taiyo.

bro yau, when we say 3s-gte rite, does all the 3s gte have the same mounting points? like from the lotus or mr2 or celica old and the latest models? is it just the age of the engines or every engine that comes from a different car has different engine mounting?:confused::confused:

Bump: :rofl:mr. yau needed at seat belt installation thread.... ae 80 owner wants to know what can be used????:driver:

First of all, the Lotus & the latest model of the Celica are not using the 3S. They're using the "Z" series; i.e. 2ZZ-GE.

The older SW20 MR2 is using the 3S; both GE & GTE.

As far as I know, all 3S have the same mountings or at least very, very similiar. However, I'm talking about the mounting "points". Some models have different engine mountings (the piece of metal thingy with rubber inside), I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Seat belts are quite easy task, why the complication ? I've also changed mine; using from other model. Just select something that has similiar anchoring points, that's all. No need to bother from which model. I think the closest to the LE would the SE model's, I think.

ooohhhh... i thought i saw once all this cars their engine codes were 3sge... back to the drawing board....sighhhhhhhhhhh.........

i went to a chop shop, looking for a 3s, asked him what he had... told had a few but condition was so so only... but he said will have new shipment coming in on board will have new celica's engines... so i thought can fit coz he said all also 3s... now i don't think so can... he also told me for the back disc brake better find which newer model can fix coz old model will also sooner than later will become obsolete... so now must go back n talk again....:banghead::banghead: too much research... head exploding ady:thefinger::thefinger:

As far as I know, the last generation of Celica with the 3S is the ST2xx; that is why the code "S"T2xx. Toyota model codes are quite easy to understand actually. The first alphabet stand for the type of engine & the second, stands for the chasis type.

Latest Celica code is ZZT xxx. That's why it comes with the "Z" series engine.

On the other hand, I've also noticed that not all chop shop people are experts. Some of them know nuts & talk rubbish & most likely the one you spoke to, is one of them or even maybe the president !:rofl::rofl:

Which also explains what he said about the rear disc brakes. Please ask him to show you how to fix the newer models of the rear disc brakes of your car to you.

The next thing he'll probably tell you to get a newer car coz sooner or later, your model will be obsolete too.:thefinger::rofl::rofl:

by the way, i noticed that alot of this chop shops mostly do installation.... what u think if i were to go to a giant shop like mun lee is it ok?

Yup, jokes aside. When it comes to brakes, it's best to get a competent person to do the job coz lives are involved.:nurse:

Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to join the Toman Cameron trip today.:damnmate:

But... I had a drive up Cameron 2 weeks ago & upheld the good name of Toyota.

There were 6 cars including mine; a Mini (new model), a Mazda MX5 roadster, a Beemer E46 325 SMG with Bilstein adjustables, a Toyota MRS, a MR2 & finally, my rusty bucket.

There were supposed to be 2 more Minis (new model), 1 of them a supercharged Cooper S.

My target was the Cooper S coz I was told that it's very fast during their last trip up Cameron. So my MR2 friend invited me to show them what is Toyota all about.

But last minute, the other 2 Minis couldn't make it but the Beemer was aiming for me !

Luckily my rusty bucket didn't let me down.:wavey:

So probably they'll respect older & cheaper cars after the trip & wouldn't look down on them anymore.

bro yau. i found vr4 front lips. Do u want it?
Any pix, bro ? You can MMS me maybe ? Thanks very much.

No lar, actually my car is only very slightly lower than standard height. It "looks" low coz of the bodykit & the wheel size. The 17" wheel fitted with 205/40 tyres are actually about 2 inches taller than a 15" rim fitted with 195/50 tyres if you put them side by side. I measured it coz my wife's car is running on 15" rims. So if you put in a set of 17" wheels, your car actually becomes taller / higher.
