Hi guys,

I have HKS Hi Power exhaust 3", which is a bit loud (not for me though)..
so, what's the best way to lower down the noise inside the cabin? I dont want to change the exhaust yet because I like the sound and looks of it.

I'm thinking of putting sound deadening at the trunk area and might as well do the doors as well. Im thinking of Dynamat Extreme. Anyone has experience before?

Where's the best place in term of workmanship to do this and can get genuine dynamat.

thanks

Bro, i was wondering whether Dynamat can reduce/eliminate the squeaky noise inside the cabin?..

Pengyu : If you find out how to soften that exhaust, let me know. I'm keen on doing the same!

Dynamat extreme is a dampening product. Meaning if pieces of metals are constantly vibrating or is hollow and causing a lot of noise, Dynamat will help lessen the noise. But it's not the same as Insuflex which generally will mute the noise. So probably a combination of both will work.

But warning on Dynamat, this stuff is heavy. Laying down layers of it will add lots of weight!

i've done my whole boot floor to bitumen strips(not dynamat, but those cheap 30cm strips of bitumen) and then a layer of 6mm superlon on top of the bitumen strip and then another layer of 10mm of superlon under the carpet layer. sound reduction from a tanabe hyper G medallion? can say 25% less but it still drones. maybe need to do up my doors too.

1 word of advise. dont keep wd40 in your boot. i left a can in there and the cap somehow came off and got wedged between the spare tyre n my toolbox n the whole can got sprayed till empty. now my spare wheel well area's bitumen strips have become slushy (wd40 disolves bitumen strips. saving up on sikadamp since i find it is slightly lighter n a lot cheaper. a box of dynamat costs up to rm900 last i checked.

Warning...its a lot of work to stretch the sound deadening material all over the curves n bumps of the boot area. dynamat or all similar sounds deadeners (non sponge) need to stick completely onto the metal surface to be effective.

ehdrian...if u stick the dynamat in between the rubbing surfaces can la...but most squeeks come from loose screws or rubbing surfaces...i have at least 4 squeeks and all of them coming from inside my dashboard. thank you stupid yellow stripes 1cm thick!
