sound proof

hi there,
i have soundproofed my 8 year old proton iswara just recently. Front doors were soundproofed with brown colour insulation material (not sure what the name is but this cost me RM350) whereas Wurth were applied to two rear doors and also the trunk.

now everything seems okay, but the problem is, it seems to be considerably less resistant to external noise coming from the engine compartment and i think i will need to keep the engine noise levels down to enjoy a pleasant driving experience. What might be good simple ways to reduce the engine noise? Have you got an idea?

Garry,

I dunno any shops in PG that carry it but try the larger shops and see.

William.
That should be deadspan.. brown, kinda thin material izzit? For engine nise, get soem wurth and paste it under the dash behind the pedals and go up as far as you can. Put some insulflex around the steerign column and any holes you can see.

garry,

there's a shop in Butterworth selling Dynamat Extreme, 4/5 pieces(forget exact figure) per box.

They're newly opened shop - ICE -

you can drop by have a look. RM450-500 for 4 doors using above mentioned. It included labour charges as well with that price.

That's what i bargained during my last visit there but i did not go for it, coz going to KL to do it ! :)

ok...thx....abit pricy..but nvm lah..thx for the info...eh my satria have 2 door nia wor....

Which acc shop in jb can install this at reasonable price ?

Pm me pls

that brown material is thin but a very heavy thingy. Now my doors are like luxury car's doors, when closing the front doors, a solid sound is heard. Thanks for the info..may i know where can i get insulflex and how does it look like?

Insulflex is a black dense spongy foam material.. used to wrap aircond ducts mainly :)

Ninja_iga has some Superlon which is about the same thign just diff brand.

I also want to know which shop in JB can do the installation. Anyone with any idea? Where can buy dynamat extreme in JB huh?

wat da price for dynamat normal for 2 front doors? and compare to dynamat extream?
becoz my car can sing also w/o speaker!

i'm not sure whether you can get this in malaysia but would you consider other brand. dynamat is good but cheaper alternatives is the Raamat. Thicker material with cheaper cost. I got someone reviewed it and compared to Dynamat Extreme and according to him Raamat are not far behind and cost is 3/4 cheaper than the dynamat extreme.

Hei, kinda interested. May i know where can i get it done in around KL or PJ area???

appleyard : Where can i install that Raamat brand ur talking about??? If for four doors how much??? proton cars.

raammat

can I know how much is the Raamat and where can i get it?
i'm interested to sound dampen the floorboard and trunk bed because my car rattles like hell when driving on uneven roads.

Hi, i wondering.. whats d best material for soundproof from outside noise. like engine and exhaust and damping sound from uneven road especially.
Can someone recommend me something. non DIY. cause i'm not good at DIY stuff.
on a Satria.

engine noise? solution is turn off ur engine. Basically they will say change your tyres. Diesel engine tend to be noisy to you cant do anything about it. Sound proofing/dampening is to prevent unwanted noise like rattling and also to increase SPL.

i dont know about satria but i dont think the engine is noisy. but you can invest in more louder amp and speakers to make up for the noise.

mmm. for the amount of times I posted on Soundproofing.. I should ask Tom for a Sticky post.

Road noise - Buy Undercarriage tar spray. Jack up acr Remove wheels. Spray into the wheel arch. Will not eliminate the road noise but reduces the resonant noise (Humming) Other option is to buy quiet tires such as Firenza (if on a budget) or Yokohama Advan Db's

Engine noise - Look under the dash. Look for holes in the firewall. Seal the holes with some bitumin type material and soft spongy material. Smae with the floor, roof, rear shelf etc.

how long will this tar spray last? don't think this is a permanent solution.
