Satria Neo CPS problem

wow. Come to think of it, i do hear a thud from the rear (right hand side) of the car on & off....at first i thought its some tools loose at the back. So its the exhaust chamber? Amazing. Thankfully i don't have a jerking problem. Took the car for a long 200km drive over the weekend down south of KL, car is really nice when driving on the twisty trunk roads of NS, but when it hits the North South highway the car is really noisy above 80kmph - the 5th gear is almost like 4th gear on another car. You know what would be perfect for the Neo? A 6 speed transmission, that would be absolutely perfect i.e. increase the ratio of the 5th gear a little bit and add in a really low 6th. Sorry, wishful thinking again.

I do feel the thud frm the rear as well. buuhuu. And my brakes feels like crap. I
ts so soft n spongy. Even my sister's 12 y.o wira's brake is way better.

Is it suppose to be like that ?

Latest issue is when i make a turn left or right there is some little squeeking sound. Its really annoying.

Hey to those who just collected their cars recently, does ur car keys come with the thundercat logo ? Mine is just 1 slot there. missing the logo.

hi Victor,

Yes i have the logo on my key. I say, how can they provide you with the key without the logo? Didn't your sales rep notice it when he passed it to you? This is funny. The strange thing for me is that when i went around scounting for the car, some branches offered the Captor system as part of the price. On that basis I thought the NEO CPS came with Captor as standard. When i bought mine the salesman said my batch 'tadak' Captor. So how come its so inconsistent?

Well, lets hope these problems can all be sorted out within our so-called 5-year warranty period. I reckon i will be sending in my car for the 1k service next week, so gonna make super early appointment and camp there for a day. Can't do w/o my ride for any longer. Pls don't misunderstand that i will miss my car that much; just have no other ride :P

Things to fix so far:
1. Wind noise (whistling noise heard inside the car)
2. Thudding of the exhaust
3. Engine jerking. Notice it most often when i am in 3rd gear, revving it a bit, between 2800 to 3000rpm. Also feel in lower rpms with 4th gear. Chris, u are so lucky to escape this %@#$@ issue!

Err..did i miss anything?!

Victor, yea, both my keys have the logo too. Come to think of it, do our cars have Captor?

Thats what my salesman told me too, no more Captor for latest batches, but the thing is the price never change:stupid:. So those who had Captor for the same price we paid, it was a extra bonus. Yes, i guess i am fortunate to escape the jerking thing, have revved it in all gears and its not there at all. But there are other problems e.g. thud at the rear, rattling sounds in the cabin, central lock that doesn't work properly, signal lights that don't 'snap-back' after making the turn, bonnet out of alignment. I know what people say...its just a Proton, so don't expect much, ya i know. I like my car even with its quirks, but the fact remains that Proton had 25 years to get its act right, and its not too much to expect a little bit more quality for a 57k - 60k car.

Hurmm..
Mine after 2 weeks driving found out the rear back absorber leaking..
engine jerking sometimes..

what is Thudding of the exhaust??

Hey guys..I just booked my White Manual CPS over the weekend..Been reading all the comments since page 1 by cpslover..Hope my unit won't be a lemon..On the other hand, can't wait to recieve my new ride!! Delivery time within a month apparently..

good....latest batch they replaced with safe tint.....so no more captor, just checked with some friends..:)

justin,
hope u get yr car fast...cheerz

Evolution,

I can confirm the new CPS has the tint. Its actually by Eco-Tint. But of lower grade la, and doesn't really block out the heat as i still get roasted on hot days. Feedback from other guys?

Justin,

Congrats man! Yes, despite the many problems most of us face, its still a pretty decent car. Key to me is its affordability and of course, mod potential. Fun drive.

Thanks Evolutionz and Yitjin!! I'm also very excited and can't wait for my new ride to come..Been planning for sometime now whether to get it or not..But in the end of the day the pros won over the cons..Haha..Looking forward to meet up with fellow Cps owners as well..Cheers guys!!

Btw any one here had major issues with their rides?? Quite horror to see the crankshaft issue..There was one case i read, the guy's crankshaft broke twice!! Replaced the previous year, then broke again the following year!! And my friend's manual gearbox was overhauled, then replaced complete unit..Phewww..

Hi Justin,

Congrats in advance. Don't be scared by all our complaints, we complain but we still buy & love the car. All part of the ownership experience. Ya mine also came with the tint, but it was useless, took it to 3M and replaced it. Saw them strip it off....it was like el-cheapo colored plastic man. No offence but it probably cost Proton almost nothing in comparison to Captor. The tint at the front windows has some security features, but the quality of the tint at the rear 2 windows (back passenger) was of an even lower quality and did not have any security features.

I've been following this post from the beginning, and i think it's a shame that the neo has so many problems, whether from design flaws or poor quality control. Considering that Proton only sold a few hundred Neo's per month, this is very alarming. I must say that it's a very good car, handling and design wise, and considerably powerful too if compared to other compact/hatch in its category.

I drive a 13-year old Civic EJ7 which I bought a few months ago at a car auction company. The car has been left for a few months at their warehouse, but the condition was good (body, engine etc). After settling all the paperwork, I just poured in petrol and drove the car home. No prob so far.

After testing my friend's neo I was REALLY thinking of getting one. It's just that good. However, after reading about all the problems u guys encounter, I think I will hold that decision a bit longer while waiting for the rumoured Neo CPS turbo.

Hehe yeap all part of owning a proton eh?? Haha..My lmst well..Apart from few problems, went smooth for all this past 6 years..And yes seriously looking forward for my white baby to come next month!! Hopefully sooner though..Ekeke..

yup...eco-tint...they have a special name for those tint used for proton...so they named it safe-tint....actually i do agree that it doesnt have enuf heat resistant....my opinion is to spend some money to tint it again with some security tint and a little more darker..it will make yr car looks great! jpj summons usually the tint shop will guarantee...so don worry.

bout the cps manual, yeah it has some prob but not all, some are really good. maybe just the numbers are high coz the sales volume are high...if percentage i would think not so high indeed....

great fun car under rm60k price tag. i would recommend an auto neo...coz tested the auto and it drives smooth and surprisingly the accelerations was great....i would say it is as fast as manual except a little lag during launch....i heard less problem too....

Evo,

Interesting that you said the auto is a viable option. To be honest, i have not test driven the auto yet, but i remember the specs saying the acceleration between the auto and manual is about 12 sec to 10.5 sec or something? Maybe when i have time i would give the auto a go just to kepoh

Justin,

Will be worth the wait bro. Just dial down your expectations and you would be fine.

Also to the rest of you planning to service your car at the COE, make your appointment early! I just called, and they are fully booked till 7 Sept (my slot). So roughly 2 weeks in advance. This could also be due to Raya coming, thats why everyone's servicing their rides before the big break. Cheers

Oh thanks for the heads up bro..But most probably I'll be servicing my car at section 13, PJ because very near my office..Can drop of the car in the morning before work and collect after work..Plus a friend of mine is working there :driver:..Plus reading about the comments and feedback at COE....Errrr..Wouldn't go there unless i have no choice i guess

section 13 is a one stop centre.....they are more efficient than others.
thumbs up!

Evolution and Justin,

Yea, been hearing good stuff about Sek 13, i wouldn't mind trying it. COE is just overloaded with cars! My only concern is addressing warranty issues (wind noise, engine jerking etc). If the centre at Section 13 can handle it, i am game for it. Not really looking forward to COE as its so far off from everywhere. Just thought that COE was better equipped to handle warranty issues. Appreciate your feedback.
