Recently i went down to KL wit some couple of frens. There were 4 of us in the car and one of them was quite "heavy". After he got down my rear section around the absorber on my left started squeking like rubber rubbing each other. Any idea wat the problem is?Do u guys think that the absorber got problem?Or something else? Please advice.Thanks.

one time after a hard drag wid a fren, my right rear side of the car started squeking. i was dem worried la , was wondering wat was it everytime when i do a turn it'll make the squeking sound.. tot absorber or the car body something wrong. lol !

went home, check ... only to find that it's actually juz the back seat not 'locked', adjusted properly. hahaa! so , check it la :cyclops:

hehehh, or it might b sumthin else? try pushing the part of the car where u claim has the sound down n see where exactly does d sound come from...

PdGuy,
Hehehe...if me got the dough, sure change one...but for now maintain la....:_:

Nitrus,
Actually i checked the back seat n it's ok....
I tried pushing the car n the sound came from around the absorbser area, not frm inside.....mmmm....would the absorber give way if we carry overweight "items".
By the way, i am using lowered springs.....

skyline2778: Look at your absorber. If its a McPherson type of shock, it will most probably have a dust cover and this cover can sometimes be compressed out of shape or is rubbing against the spring and this will lead to all kinds of weird noises eventhough it isn't a big issue. Also check your suspension bushes for freeplay. A heavy load can force an already worn out bush to show more signs of wear.

If your car is equipped with telescopic dampers on the rear then it can be a number of things:

a) the damper was on its last legs and the heavy load just killed it, try the bounce test to confirm this
b) the spring isn't sitting correctly in its mounting and may have become dislodged after the weight
c) see above about the suspension bushings.

Cheers and good luck with your problem
