hi guys...
just to share some of my shots.
Bought a Proton Putra yr 2000 from a Used Car Dealership in Klang in 2007.
The owner was originally a man named Jaafar & was transferred to a woman. I am the third owner :itsme:
A day before I took the car, the HU was robbed off the dashboard :banghead:.Below it rests at the house.

changed to GTI gearknob.

Painted the gear boot base with gun metal colour.

And installed Momo 3 spoke from an Evolution & man, it was expensive buy. For the cozy of the ride I had OEM Clarion HU from WAJA installed. I loved the last batch of Recaro from year 2000 manufacture most. Best material for seat then suede, IMHO. Please ignore the ugly gear console paint job under the dashboard :boring:

Sometime later I managed to get Cusco Strut Brace to replace the worn strut brace & painted it to candy red.

If you browse through the internet for Proton Putra pictures, these will emerge;

Yes, those are from my previous ownership.

I used to run with the Putra Collective team, until the VP went overseas & most of us parted ways. Some upgraded to LAN EVO & Impreza while I still 'terkedek-kedek' in my Putra. As you can see the rear bonnet has some letter emblems too.

To make it a pure legend, I obtained this 'love letter', one lovely evening. Laughed hard in disbelief. It really made my day... & those who heard the story.

That's all for now, I will continue another day.

Yes, it was before the public road under MEX was opened to public. It's a good stretch but not safe due to constructions that time.

Yes, I was quite pleased with the overall condition. Bought it for RM35,000 back then.

Your car shows that Proton cars can be good as well if you take care of it nicely. I get bored of people stereotyping Proton cars by saying they do not last long and all that.

Earlier planned to buy a Putra for daily drive to work. Suddenly bought a year 2000 1.8cc Wira....
Now regretted aredi :banghead:

Actually I was more interested in Putra. But most of them I found in JB was in bad condition.
After tired searching for 3 month, finally I decided to grab this Wira 1.8...

if u ask me your wira 1.8 looks better, for SGTI & putra very hard to find a mint/accident free condition in the market nowdays, even my previous SGTI when bought was an accident car.

just upgrade your wira, when you're bored sell it.

Btw guys any idea where i could find a reliable mechanic who doesnt just tell u tell u to replace ur engine and make minor problems worse by fixing it half way, charge u like crazy and the problem gets worse

Wira has a very simple engine. With the right tools, almost everything is DIY. DIY is the best mechanic who won't rip you off. Probably cheaper too
