Needs your expertise!!!!! plssssss

found a little relieving info about our torsen LSD . I guess its alright with 75W90 oil afterall...
check this out..

Hi
If your chassis plate shows "B" then definitely there should be LSD.
Option I mean. For example manual 6MT has LSD as standard. For an Auto 5AT it is an option.
In Japan when you buy the new car you can specify if you want LSD or not.
They will allocate the car with B in chassis plate to you.

The factory makes some batches with LSD and some without. Depending on the buyer
if they want LSD or not. The car will be allocated accordingly.

"B" denotes Torsen LSD made by Zexel Inc.

Same goes for TRC ( Traction control) . It is a option for Auto 5AT.

Wfan.... your case not sure why your axle dont have LSD. It should have.

vj,
my regular mech did the same checking as TRDtezza's mech done (quote below), and told
me 'NO LSD la..".. how to confirm the LSD exist wthout dismantling the rear axle to
inspect inside? or maybe mine is with LSD but i was so noob to how to check/test it ??
no thanks, i no need austin to test for me, nor any volunteer..just need to know the way
only..... :P
* he he..he.. put austin on table, wait him come reply *

mine is a B , but when i rotate the tyres , they spin on different direction , the mech said its a non-lsd and put a non-lsd oil in it ... please clarify before i blew up my axle!!!

same here. the web-page said
"...when one wheel has no torque available (say it spinning in mud), then 5 times nothing is still no torque to the other wheel, so you can get stuck just like a std diff....", does this explains the same situation when the car is being jacked-up ? my understanding is poor.

in the web, i quote
[Require no special gear oil, any standard/synthetic 75W90. In theory, it will last "forever"]

i don't believe in forever, man, did my rear axle oil changed, the drained one looks like
kopi-o-super-9. i suspect mine is still having the FACTORY-FILLED-AXLE-OIL, not even being changed while it was in japan and even after it landed as recon in m'sia, maybe i am the owner that first change the rear axle oil.

anyway, i'm using fully-syn LSD oil (forgot wat grade/brand d) regardless it got LSD or no LSD.

how much roughly is the price of an LSD axle if i were to get one? anyone has got A03B?

there is a way to check whether there is an lsd into the rear differential or not. the normal idiotic foreman will not know as they never bothered to learn.

putting non-lsd oil into an lsd rear diff will cause problems in the long run as the oil must be thicker. putting lsd type oil into a non-lsd rear diff will also cause problems as the oil is too thick. good luck

how to see if got lsd in your rear differential:

check the engine nameplate
at the trans/axle words, there is a code eg. A650E A01B

the A650E is our normal auto transmission. the A01B is the rear diff.

If u see a B then there is a lsd, eg A01B, A02B, A03B etc

no B no lsd

mine is A01A...hence no lsd

another way to check:

u will need to jack up the car.

ask one fren to hold 1 rear wheel stationary. then u try to spin the other wheel. if the wheel u spin spins freely, the no lsd and hence u only have an open differential

if the wheel u spin has a bit of resistance...voila! u have a lsd. how resistant it is i dunno, but this is a rule of thumb. because our lsd is a torque sensing device(torsen type), it will distribute torque to the other wheel if it senses that the other wheel needs more torque

the slower-moving wheel always receives more torque than the faster-moving wheel in cornering/or funny road conditions

how resistant the wheel will be will depends on the lsd inside as well. it might be faulty. as long as the the wheel u are holding spins freely with no resistance, then no lsd

if no lsd, time to get one...either by buying cusco/trd/used manual rear axles...up to u guys hah

cheers
