All brothers & sisters;

just wanna get some 2 view on how to choose modification for my rd1;

1) Among all the tyres brand in the market, whats the best tyres to use for RD1 ?

2) Wanna change the present alarm system but not sure what type to go for, is it better to get one with immobilizer or one without ?

3) i'm thinking of installing sunroof for the car but not sure of what disadvantage that it may caused and is there any recommended accs shop for this in Jb ( goods workman ) and whats the estimated damage ?

sorry for the questions and thanks to all bros beforehand..:_:

For your third question, you must make sure that the rubber surrounding the edge of the sunroof is in good condition all the time.
Cracked and worned out edge rubber will cause raining water to drip into the car's cabin.

You can refer to one of our tread on tyres. Best tyres refect on how good your budget is. But to me Hankook is quite up to par as I use Yokohama ADVAN before and I'm comparing both of them.

Go for reputable alarm brand as coupe doesn't like cheapo alarm. CODE ALARM, CLIFFORD, VIPER are those reliable ones. Immobilizer give me the trauma when my coupe relay got problem it the whole car went dead for me as the alarm thinks that I'm trying to steel the car because the relay is giving intermittent voltage. Beware as coupe tends to have starter relay problem.

A good quality parts and workmanship for the roof will set you back for more than RM1000K. In JB I have no idea which shop. Maybe other member can help.

I'm using both of the brands too.
Have to say that Hankook tyres perform very well.
It provide me with good traction and it's Korean stuff.
But I would like to try other brands. Must wait till I change my rims.:_:

no specific tyre for RD, just share my experience.

Yokohama (make in japan) basic model i used (forgot which model), quite, high comfort level, but tires wear gone very fast. Skid when I travel 110KMH at fly over in front of Eastin Hotel with +-25% thread left.

Bridgestone Potenze GIII, noisier than Yokohama, good handling at dry and wet condition.

Continental SportContact II, good.

thks, bro daniel;

So what you meant to say is that unless you are ready to take the risk, otherwise better don't fix the sunroof

tears, you're welcome.:_:
Actually it's not about taking risk but it's just a little hassle to check the rubber at the edge from time to time to make sure it is in good condition.
And make sure no one press the rubber when they pop their heads out through the sunroof.
Ppl tend to press on the rubber when they pop their heads out in order to get some grip or to stable themselves.
The force they exert on the rubber will cause the rubber to misalign or damage it.

Any brother had their coupe installed sun roof ? any chances of recommend some trustworthy workshop in JB to me ???

Hmmm.... right now I don't think we have club members that install aftermarket sunroof.
Sorry dude, not familiar with JB.
Maybe some other members here can help you out. :)

Daniel,
You forget to mentioned that when they start cutting your car's roof. That time ah...you really heart ache man...the sound...the debris...just can't stand watching..

Yeah, yeah, you're right, Ace.
Seeing them ripping a big hole on top of your roof can make your heart aches.
Arrrrggggghhhhh........ Can't stand thinking of it!!!!!!

so brother daniel, you had your sunroof done.... any negativeness in it ?

tears, I didn't install sunroof yet.
But I got friends that had install aftermarket sunroofs on thier cars.
It hurts your heart when they start to tear up a hole on your roof when they install the sunroof.
I don't see anymore negativeness other than what I'd mentioned in this thread before this.
Ah, got one more, SUNBURNS.........hahahahahaha.............

some comes with special netting where you could prevent sunburn. Your pocket is the one that burned

thanks, but now i'm having second thoughts about this...maybe KIV first la... don't wanna end up paying money and hurt mah...

tears, you're right.
Take your time and do some research first.
Don't hurry and regret later on. :)
