Hi guys,
just a quick one here.. just want to find out whether is it ok to fit a spacer to my rear wheels?? coz my offset not big enuf so tot of fitting a spacer. my rim is 18".
r there any disadvantages or any down points of fitting a spacer??

thanks in advanced

The spacers are ok as long as its not too thick. I've used 1 inch thickness before. The aluminium spacer I used can be quite costly to fabricate. Plus, u have to find longer studs for your wheels. All added up, it can cost u quite a lot.

I used the spacers from the "look" only. performance wise not too sure....

wazzup Doc....

anyway.. i'm not too sure bout this fact, but quite a number of ppl told me spacer does affect the wheel bearing... premature wearing of it. And a poorly fitted spacer would make things worst. So, get a proper ones.

get those from Eibach... come with studs also... :) i think the effect will be long terms and i mean very looooong terms...

vr hard to get perfect allignment if use spacer.... this is my mech told me la, disadvantage of spacer....

Zephyr3d, you are not wrong ... especially front wheels, coupled with heavy springs. The loading to the hub bearing and the drive-shaft may cause premature bearing wear, or snap the shaft end. Been there, done that.

Wouldn't advise anyone on anything more than 10mm for the fronts.

I may need those with studs once I put on my Advan RC. Damn +45 offset!

a good spacer cost u few hundred until few k
a lousy spacer cost u 10-15 for a piece..

different is the lousy spacer will make ur car vibrate when u cruising over 80km..normally

a lousy spacer come with variable pcd slot..it can use with any pcd..
but a good 1 will only available at most 2 type of pcd..and the screw holes are fully balanced ..

about the wear for the bearing, a good spacer will not make any big problem even after 5-10 years..but you will notice the different when u use lousy spacer more then a few months..

hahaha, boggysv, good one!!

btw, DR, better front and rear, not just put a pair for rear.
i install spacer for front only... now i planning to add spacer to the rear (cosmetic purpose) but the rear fender arch doesnt allow me to do that... my rear gap is already 0 fingers, the tyres are running in the arch... if add spacer, it will be rubbing on the arch....:X-:

Look around some panel-beater. Some "may" have a fender lip roller. It works on rolling the inner lip on the fender, and some may be able to wider the fender by about 5, maybe 10mm. Or just ask your local beater to knock it out, hehe.

Btw, it's not a matter of "good" and the "bad" spacer. Agree very much on the balance on the spacer but it's about the increased side loading (T=Fd). Just be more cautious when to spaced it too far anyway, or you might just ended up "spaced-out" hehehe.

ooo... thanks thanks... i've done that to my front arch... so far no problem la... but i think need to knock a bit more to give more stroke room for my tyres to bounce...

Good luck in it ;)

One last note, make sure also you have enuff space in your tyre well (inside arch) for your wheel to move up and down, during compression.

Cheers.

hi zephy, black n all.. thanks 4 all d advices. i think now i will either alter the rear bodykit or just change a bigger offsets rims la.. sigh...more $$ wasted..
