thanks alot grexer for taking the time to post that...i always prefer lengthy explanations coz its more detailed! :)

ill try out that method of tuning..just that right now im having a slight prob..my tweeters are slightly too loud? or too sharp...its clear, but its real loud... only way to reduce it is setting the treble at -ve. is this common?

Well yea, it's rather common that some times the tweeter is too loud. Some component set has passive xover with a gain/volume setting, so if yours is like that then you can play around with it to try reduce the volume. If not then play to reduce with your EQ until it sound natural to you. You can also try to adjust the placement/firing angle of the tweeters so not to directly aiming at your head but maybe to intersect/cross at a slightly forward position in relation to your head position, for example to intersect at the middle of the dash.

6uest : I was (and to a certain extent-still am) a hardcore ICEr that followed all the brands of yesteryear like the legendary red giant - the Orion HCCA G4/G5 and all that, up until the latest brands of Helix, Brax, TRU and the now closed down Genesis. Just that my car was never up to the levels of those with big budgets. Poor buggers like me don't get to go that far!

Many years back, I also used to follow car audio development even though cannot say I'm a hardcore ICEr. :) I always spend some money for car audio for all my previous cars even though can only be categorised as low-mid budget system, at least have a high voltage HU with decent EQ/sound priocessor, split component set for the front, a 5/6 ch amp and a single/dual sub at the back. But now just don't have much time to follow anymore as thing also move so fast nowadays. Many well known respectable brands of the past have gone bust and new brands seem to keep popping up every day, so just cannot keep up anymore now. But car audio is still rather important to keep me company especially during traffic jams! Without it, I'll just be very irritated and bored to death when driving.

what i did was reduce treble and and faced the tweeters toward the windscreen...now it sound so much better... and just tuned the car to the method you mentioned...put fader max Front. and set the HPF accordingly...followed by the EQ... then did the same for the back... and then just left the fader slightly toward the front... overall im pretty satisfied with the sound...but how long will i be satisfied im not sure la..hehe...

what im really happy about this experience, i kind of understand ICE better now and understand all this freq stuff.. and i also understand why ppl spend lots of $$$ on ICE cause, you really do get what you pay for...

You'll still be satisfied until your ears get 'poisoned' by other much better sounding system!
