Here how i checked mine.
Manually.
Turn the differential drive coupling while holding onto any 1 of the wheel hub.
If the other wheel hub turns, then its an open differential. If you can't turn the differential (if there is resistance felt ) then I think its LSD-ed.
Visually.
Open the drain nut and peek into the differential with a torch light (sometimes the seller or chop shop owner won't al'lw you to do this)
You ought to catch a glimpse of the differential whether is an open type or LSD.
