How They Do That!

Wonder, Wira 1.6 Auto. This engine did not have o2 sensor for close loop. When tunning, they only allow to adjust the VR,variable resistor ( Lean or Rich ). My question is, how the stock ecu know that the a/f in range ( 14.7 ) ?
Those who drive on Toyota, SEG ( Malaysia ), also do not have o2 sensor. Only VR to adjust. How they do that ?
Any Si fu.......
Thank you.

hmm...i think your car using Co2 adjuster in this case. I try post up the pic tonight then u tell me do you have such sensor in your engine bay :)

yup agree.. usually 1.6 uses co2 sensor.. but how to adjuat that?? coz i heard from sumwhere that thing could be adjust

i think wira 1.6xli doesnt have o2 sensor. coz i already checked my bro's car.
mine (daihatsu) also doesnt have. got a/f adjuster pot like wira's.

i think ecu only use map/table programmed in the ecu based on map sensor, throttle sensor, air temp. sensor.
