Help with ED53

I have a 850cc EFI ED53 Im putting in my Cuore which was carby. Im having some electrical prob. I get current to the plugs and after the engine fires once it dies and when I plug off the ECU and check the wire and plugs it on again i get current then it fires and dies again.

I was told that the ECU I have operates off an immobilizer system and when the ECU cant find that signal it cuts power to the system. Does this sound logical and if so how can I get around it??
